The blue Turbo is my friends. I had an 87 930 and there’s a big difference vs the Carrera. Maybe not so much around town but in the higher RPM’s and the track. My 930 had 400 rwhp. I like my Targa, but the wide body 911 is my favorite.

Someday I want to put a Turbo motor into my M491. It's quick, lightened with a 7:31 R&P, but can always use more power.

Garage
My 85 911 turns 40 this year. I was in the middle of Joshua Tree park, well over a thousand miles from home. It had been 30 minutes since I last saw another human. I walked over, and as always, it fired right up, and started blowing ice cold air on me.

One year later, I was on the track at Talladega, AL driving 125 MPH with my wife in the car, just cruising with no issue, AC blowing.

Just the next day I was on track at Barber Motorsports.

Here I am passing some slower traffic.

The car has increased in value by 5 times over what I paid for it. That is a fun toy, and there is no substitute for a Porsche. It will hit 198,000 miles fairly soon.

It has taken me to 41 states, and Canada. I hope to get to all 48 of the lower 48.

What other 1980s car can do all that?

The blue 930 has about 160,000 miles on it. My friend bought it with ~20k and drives it all the time. It’s been up and down the East Coast from Florida to Maine. His brother also has a 930.

There’s no substitute for horsepower! 10 or 15 years ago, you could probably get a 930 motor at a reasonable cost. I can’t imagine what a 930 motor would cost nowadays.

930Rocket, if those frames aren’t available let me know. I still have one hanging in my garage. At this point probably for old time’s sake more than anything else.

You can get someone's rebuilt one for $25K to $35K. I think a good running core is $15K but those are extremely rare. Have seen more rebuilt motors for sale.

A bit of a giggle for you. I came out of a shop and across the road at the Ferrari dealership was a very high end looking Ferrari parked on the street. Next to it was a beaten up looking old Beetle. The three salesmen saw my eyes light up and were poised to move and make a deal. I completely ignored the Ferrari and walked around the VW admiring all aspects of it. Out of the corner of my eye I could see the salesmen almost doubled up laughing.
