I saw a black Ford pickup with no markings, but flashing lights all over it, that pulled over a car. It was a real stealth cop.

![]() So I prepared this long well thought out speech. Took photos of other towing compaines running their plates in the same fashion as I was. I Copied pages out of the Pa Vehicle code and state inspection guideilnes . Had all my invoices, for correcting what he cited me for on my truck and was prepared to go into court this moring to do battle . Walked into the courtrrom, and the officer, who was a total tool to me that night, smiled , shook my hand, and dismissed all charges . The judge made a joke about advertising for my company when he read all charges dismissed against Fast Freddys Auto Service , and I walked out . My faith in the system , is temorarliy restored. I paid all my fines and court costs up front , so now I just have to wait for my refund in the mail . I had posted another thread about my shop getting audited by the State Inspection Division here, and him giving me all sorts of grief, and turning me into the state . Turns out, he has ripped every other shop in the area a new arse with the same schpiel , and has yet to follow through on any of his threats . No one has been charged, or reprimanded by the state yet and it has now been months . Every morning , my station still shows " active " online " and I am next to positive that nothing will come from this either . He surealy cannot shut all of us down ! Fk the man , fight the system, I was born to rage against them .

Got a ticket in Pensacola (Escambia County...emphasis on "scam") last year where the speed limit on the interstate quickly drops from 70 to 50 due to construction (a few orange cones lined up along the median...no workers, ever). Now, every time I go past there, I slow to 55 (where it's marked 50) and it backs traffic up, I get the finger, people swerve around me, etc.
Easy pickins when there's a revenue quota to make but definitely not making the roads safer...just the opposite.

Glad that worked out for you. I'm thinking possibly mistaken identity, and the officer verified his mistake later.

As far as I am aware, the connection between tickets and insurance rates going up / traffic school to prevent that, is a racket unique to this country. (now of course I'll be proven wrong)
It's definitely about money for all. I checked with friends abroad, their record can be affected (and traffic school equivalents exists to get points back) but in no case does this info get turned over to insurance companies for a second helping of BOHICA. Frankly at this point I'm surprised Ins companies do not mandate GPS black boxes in all our cars to a_ deny any accident claim if you were 1 mph over the limit, and b) and sell that to medical insurance companies too, to deny us medical reimbursement because we were driving too fast. Watch, it's probably coming ;-( it's all about $. There is a whole industry of "lawyers" ready to get your stuff dismissed (more $), courts that will gladly take more $ instead of points, all of which would probably not exists if the fines were only affecting your record and were dispensed based on common sense (get nailed speeding in front of a school, not for doing 20 over on an empty freeway). In the past few weeks with the return of pleasant weather and salt free roads, the cool cars are out again. Last weekend saw a few newer vettes getting dinged for the front plate issue. Good times in this silly broke state.

so, we will all sit an complain, that the entire thing not about public safety, or improving lives .....
and then keep on supporting it? same people complaining about thin blue line flags on their cars. "oh the cops are policing us like this to make money" but in the same post "i support the cops though" like WTF? how are you supposed to be taken seriously in conversation? take the next step guys. figure it out. time for a system that actually does improve lives, and is about public safety. you know, like we've been saying for years. A friend explained to me that you will NEVER win your case on the side of the road. Be polite, take the ticket, and then plead your case in the court.
The only thing you win for cause trouble on the side of the road is "silly prizes".

![]() I was speeding ... he had me and actually wrote out the ticket after the usual "dead bodies in the trunk" routine... it was a Friday and I was heading down to Jax for the weekend. And at the end as he was getting ready to hand me the ticket, I jokingly said "Thank you for making my weekend start out great". He said ... "not yet" .... and wrote WARNING in BIG letters across the real ticket an told me to have a great, safe weekend ![]() YES SIR ![]() |

Best one I liked on one of the cop shows was the cop asked the guy what is birthday was and he said, Mar 15th”. Cop says, “what year?” And the perp says “every year, don’t you guys have to take an IQ test or something?”

^^^Bwaaahaha!
I’ve had my share of tickets and cop interactions… The first one, I was 16 and driving our 74 super beetle. I was pretending a cop was chasing me, went around a corner, and there was a cop with radar! I really wasn’t going that fast.He gave me a warning. That was in our small town of Westport Connecticut, in 1976. The second ticket, was in a school zone. I was going 38 in a 35. I got the ticket and paid the fine. This was in Dunwoody, Georgia in 1977. The third ticket, there were seven or eight of us in two cars. My 74 super beetle and and my friends Chevy Vega. We were on high school spring break and had just left the beer store. An off duty cop, radioed his friends and three or four cop cars pulled us over. They said, “we were playing games on the highway”.🙄 We really didn’t know what we did. I got the ticket and paid the $50 fine. This was in St. Augustine, Florida in 1977. The fourth ticket, I was driving my 930 from Charleston to Charlotte and got pulled over for doing 79 in a 70, in the middle of nowhere. It was 10 o’clock at night, and I was just cruising down the road by myself. Windows down and elbow out the window. Cop sitting in the median got me on radar. I found a local lawyer to the ticket area and he talked to the cop. No points and ticket was dismissed. Lawyer didn’t charge me anything. Nice guy! This was half way between Charleston and Columbia in 2000. The fifth ticket, I was driving from one job site to another, and on the phone with an idiot contractor of mine. Wasn’t paying attention, and got popped for 43 in a 35. Got the ticket and paid the fine. This was in Cainhoy, SC in about 2006. My sixth cop conversation, I was driving on I-400 from Cumming, Georgia to Dunwoody, Georgia, at about 6:30 in heavy traffic. I was on the phone with Ms. Rocket and told her there was a cop up ahead. Next thing I know, he’s pulling me over. I rolled all of my windows down, turned off the engine, radio, and put my hands on the steering wheel. I gave him my license and he said the reason he pulled me over, was because I was weaving. WTF? How was I weaving, in heavy traffic, within my lane? Then he asked me if I had been drinking. At that point, I gave up drinking 29 years earlier, so no officer. I think he pulled me over, because I was in a pick up truck with tinted windows. He let me go without any kind of ticket. I was a little miffed about being pulled over for no reason. This was in Alpharetta, Georgia in about 2018. Another cop story. Ms Rocket, and I were coming home from the movies, it was just getting dark and I saw some tail lights in the woods. We made a U-turn up ahead, and when we did, I noticed a boat being trailered by a truck. When we got to the lights, we pulled over and it turned out to be a motorcycle in the woods. Then we noticed about 30 or 40 feet in front of our car, a body on the side of the road. Ms. Rocket is an ICU nurse. She rolled the guy over, checked for a pulse, etc. and did a few chest compressions. She said he was a bag of bones and dead. We call the cops, and several showed up. Next thing we know, the car towing the boat, passes by. I point it out to the cops and one goes after him. We told them everything we had seen and done, but one cop made a stupid comment that pissed me off, like we were the ones who did it. I almost told him to **** himself, but didn’t. As we were getting in our car, I noticed there was a wallet laying on the ground right in front of my door. It belonged to the motorcyclist. I gave it to the cops, and that was the end of our adventure that night. Last edited by A930Rocket; 05-27-2025 at 07:02 PM.. |

When I still lived on base with my parents, I got a ticket for 26 in a 25 zone. A second ticket meant I would have to park just inside the main gate, and walk home. So I drove 20 on base and caused traffic backups.
