What do you do with used suspension parts ?

So I have four dead shock absorbers from my S10 . I am getting ready to do a suspension swap on my Boxster . What do you guys do with stuff like this ? Will metal recyclers take this ? Is the fluid in shock absorbers toxic ?

Trash can. If they are aluminum parts you could maybe recycle them? Not sure anybody would take old shocks.

In my neck of the woods they just leave 'em out on the parkway for the junk metal guys to haul away.

I don't live in a very high rent type of district.

I toss mine in a drum with my scrap steel and bring it over to a place that buys scrap steel.

I have a metal recycling place near me . Hopefully they will recycle the metal and aluminum . I just want to avoid the land fill if possible . Thanks

I tend to save all my old parts until my garage is a complete pig sty and I can't find anything.

Nobody has suggested spray painting them and throwing them up on Facebook Marketplace as "like new"?

I throw them in the nearest creek bed or river. I’m sure, sooner or later, somebody magnet fishing, will find them.

For the air cooled `87, I save used but not broken parts as a backup since stuff is getting harder to find, NLA, or now made of obtainium. Double bonus points if they are something that is rebuildable. Everything else is trash.

I drill a small hole in shocks to remove any pressure and then toss them in the trash. Or metal recycling at work after I've drained the oil.
