I know people like that. It seems to propel some to excel and others to give up. Someone very close to me was like that. In her case she worked twice as hard at everything to make up for her perceived inadequacies. It was difficult and painful (for both of us) to see her work so hard and still suffer with the self doubt.

If I catch myself doing things unconsciously the same way time after time, like always doing the windshield first when I clean the car windows, I'll make an effort to break the pattern. Don't know why...I just do.
I also don't like seeing stuff on a shelf, in a cabinet, in a drawer, on a table, etc. in perfect alignment. If I see things too perfectly aligned, I'll move a few around just to mess it up a bit ![]()

Perhaps my thinking makes me a bit crazy. If it does, I'm okay with that. I've learned how to handle it. Plus, I understand guys think girls that are a little crazy are hot. haha

While you're at it, trade in your jalopy for a Tercel! At least you've realized, which has to be a bit of an improvement.

in therapy..it was called "magical thinking".
in summary, what you think in your head is made up. not real. that **** is way behind me, in the rearview.

In my working days I used to count stairs when delivering boilers/tools/pipe. I’ve been retired for 10 years and I still count stairs at the house or when I’m out.
I’m pretty OCD

I don't know if it counts as a habit, but when I'm on a long trip and I hear a song that was heard in the last few hours, I can recall exactly where I was when the song was previously heard.
When I am traveling somewhere, I am constantly updating eta, and relative percentage of the duration of the trip.

I don't like calling it OCD.
Sometimes I call it CDO, so the letters are in alphabetical order. ![]()
