I know people like that. It seems to propel some to excel and others to give up. Someone very close to me was like that. In her case she worked twice as hard at everything to make up for her perceived inadequacies. It was difficult and painful (for both of us) to see her work so hard and still suffer with the self doubt.

If I catch myself doing things unconsciously the same way time after time, like always doing the windshield first when I clean the car windows, I'll make an effort to break the pattern. Don't know why...I just do.

I also don't like seeing stuff on a shelf, in a cabinet, in a drawer, on a table, etc. in perfect alignment. If I see things too perfectly aligned, I'll move a few around just to mess it up a bit

In day to day living I virtually never apply anything to my lips, except my wife.

Another one I noticed recently, whenever I go to kneel on the ground to inspect or clean a part of the car, I always use my right knee down first.

I am sure I have others, like everyone else.

What are things you do the same way every time without consciously thinking about it.
EVERYTHING. I am very much a creature of habit...think borderline OCD. If someone messes with one of my routines (or the wife puts something away in the wrong place), it really throws me off.

Thanks, I am happy. Whenever I catch myself wanting to sabotage my happy, I simply remind myself that happiness isn't a sin.

Perhaps my thinking makes me a bit crazy. If it does, I'm okay with that. I've learned how to handle it. Plus, I understand guys think girls that are a little crazy are hot. haha

You and I could not be friends. I'd be fixing the things on your shelf and likely adjusting your framed pictures and what not...

For example, I keep telling myself my house is too extravagant, it's frivolous, and I can't afford it. I tell myself I should sell it, save my money for god-knows-what, and live in an old trailer. Why do I tell myself these lies? Because I can't believe I deserve to be happy. I can't believe I'm not the failure I was always told I'd be.

While you're at it, trade in your jalopy for a Tercel!

At least you've realized, which has to be a bit of an improvement.

In my working days I used to count stairs when delivering boilers/tools/pipe. I’ve been retired for 10 years and I still count stairs at the house or when I’m out.
I’m pretty OCD

I don't know if it counts as a habit, but when I'm on a long trip and I hear a song that was heard in the last few hours, I can recall exactly where I was when the song was previously heard.
When I am traveling somewhere, I am constantly updating eta, and relative percentage of the duration of the trip.

Ditto for me.

I had a doctor tell me, instead of calling it OCD, he like to say I was a thorough!

I don't like calling it OCD.
Sometimes I call it CDO, so the letters are in alphabetical order.
