This is fun - an air filter shootout!

Caution - Porsche content included

More important to me, is how much dirt and crap is passed through the filter into the engine. Ait flow alone is just not as important as engine life from filters stopping the crud we see on an old filter.

Well, yes. Isn't filtering the point of a filter? I'll bet the bug screens on my 356 would win any flow competition. They won't filter out anything smaller than a bumblebee, but they offer almost no restriction.

Bingo! What is dust? Small rocks. How many small rocks do you want your engine to ingest? Max flow is great for racing where winning is more important than engine life...
For a street engine you hope will survive 100,000 miles or more, perhaps you'd like it to eat less dust?

That is a good channel to follow. Lots of interesting tests. They did one on old uncalibrated torque wrenches, including wrenches that were no set back to zero.

The guy doing the video does say "we are just testing flow, only one characteristic of these air filters."

As a counter point, new BMC filters ruined the MAF’s of my old Cayenne Turbo. Be careful out there

Are the BMC oiled like the oiled K&N? I've heard that the oiled filters can cause issues because of the oil. I'll stick to stock style paper elements.

20 years ago or more, when automotive enthusiasts posted on forums, there was a similar test of aftermarket filters on a Mustang forum. The Motorcraft filter came out on top… by a big margin.

This was before China became the supplier for everything so who knows now.
