Brakes creaking when at rest?

So, I was bleeding my brakes today with the car in the air when I noticed that the front end of the car was creaking when I was applying the brake pedal to check that the pressure was good. I couldn't pin down where it was coming from, but the noise was relative to the position and force of the brake pedal.

With the bleeder valves open, there was no noise.

Is this normal or am I about to die?

Sounds like a good time to grease some pins.

LOL!
The rears on my Tundra squeaked/groaned. I jacked it up and tried to rotate a tire and i could barely turn it. Took the left caliper and pads out and it turned freely. Both rotors had rust. The pad’s contact patch on the outside was 1 1/2 inch and inside was 3/4” due to the rust, so I had the pads and rotors replaced. No more funny noises!

I have mentiond this before and you probably know but there is a bleeder on the proportioning valve near the shock tower on the left side on (most?) Toyota trucks.

Asian cars in the rust belt rust in the channel where the stainless inserts fits causing a pinch on the pad tangs/tongues/protrusions. Pads can freeze in place from getting squeezed.

Not sure if that would cause squeaking.

I had the guide pins freeze in the caliper bracket on my ram after a couple years from new. Would have never know if it wasn’t for abs sensor wiring harnesses being cut from road debris and subsequent inspection.

Somehow I managed to put this in the OT instead of the 911 forum. Great job, me!

I'll repost to make sure, but thanks for the input. I'm going to check and grease the pins this weekend, as well as enlist my wife to pinpoint the source of the noise.

Where is Steve with a post titled "Bones creaking when rest" or maybe "rakes creaking when test"?

I like "Bones breaking when I rest."
