That's the first car I thought of when I saw this thread.

DeMuro got a Taycan EV to test out.
Interesting comments- big difference in handling versus all other EVs. Porsche did it well briefly muses that a shifter would make it more fun did like it a lot though doubt he'll give up his Carrera GT https://youtu.be/D8xlkgHmC8k https://www.supercars.net/blog/doug-demuro-reviews-the-2022-porsche-taycan-gts-sport-turismo/ so yes these can be insanely quick, and handle well. lighter will be mo' better with next gen batteries future is bright today still pondering a tesla 3 performance with an aftermarket suspension. |

I’m not sure a 5,000 lb electric sedan really checks my boxes for “sports car”.

Nope. They are too heavy and lack driving range at speed.

Tesla 3 performance is more like a sporty sedan appliance. not an engaging 'sporty' experience
weight of 4065# falls in between M3 and M5 (3840 and 5390#) ('long range', a bit over 300mi driven casually) our Porsche flavors are: Cayman 718: 3241# carrera: 3316# Taycan EV: 4630# panamera: varies, over 5000# with batteries going to need a future generation of light batteries |

Solid-state batteries should move us significantly in the right direction.

What happens when a car buyer likes the sound of a flat-six engine over the sound of an electric motor? I drive with friends in the northern mountains. Many are PCA members. All of them have an ICE engine.

^^^ What a great map. Lot's of memories.
There has got to be an app, right? I don't know, and I'll never own an all electric automobile...but there has to be a business opportunity in there somewhere.

Quite a few of the new EVs offer simulated ICE sounds. But it’s more than just a sound, is the feel through the wheel/seat/pedals, the real time interaction with the driver, the exhaust sound over your shoulder, the intake noise from up front (or back depending). It’s a lot of senses all giving you an experience that you can’t fake with a soundtrack through the speakers.

Get off my lawn!

In 2023 I drove through far south California, along the border, over to Arizona and then New Mexico. My Garmin GPS normally shows potential stops ahead for food or gas. That side of the GPS was blank for a long time. I was real glad to have a 21 gallon tank of gas with a 500 mile range is needed. I can't imagine the anxiety of driving that route in an electric car. My 40 year ICE powered car loved the area.

We need to move away from favoring EV to a minor part.
I'd say that Porsche CEO Oliver Bloome will resign from his poor reactions to a failed policy. His last plan to kill the Cayman/Boxster ICE to all EV was just stupid. They should both be produced. The sales market will define the winner while the elites fly around in their private jets.

it will finally be a sporty-sports car,.. but until the Hp/ to weight ratio is figured out it can never be a 'sports car' Some of the electric sedans on offer now, might be classified as 'Muscle-cars' for their insane torque , but not a sports cars

A Porsche 914 with a flat-six in back is a fast car. They can weight 1800 lbs. in race trim.

I love the rotary, but not as a range extender. A heavy hybrid is really not a suitable RX model, it’s definitely not consistent with the history of those models.

Mazda's CX-50 hybrid uses Toyota's rav4 powertrain.
So MX-5 Miata gets the Prius? maybe light enough with a solid state or aluminum Ion battery. gonna be tough to stuff batteires in such a small car. |
