Jay Leno's Garage: 1989 Porsche Speedster

This Speedster is practically a "brand-new old car" with only 2,600 miles. It looks pretty good to me!!!

I would not kick that out of my garage…. Beautiful, and I am all about driving my cars not saving the miles for the next owner, but that has to be one of the lowest mile Speedsters around.

Thanks for posting!

Beautiful car and what a great sound. I remember many years ago, there was a nice one for sale near me for 42,000.

Maybe I’m the odd man out, but in ever loved the Speedster look. To me it never quite tied in with the Carrera body. For the money there are a lot of other 911s that would choose first.

I bet that car is worth $300+?
It bothered me that he really had no clue on the specs. Sounds like he has a large collection of cars.

Yes, it just looks awkward.

I think the 911 Speedster was just a marketing ploy anyway. Change the car a little to make it "special," give it the same name as an iconic vehicle, and you have an instant collector's item.

Ist the g bodied 911 speedster like the most overvalued porsche of all time? Second maybe to the 964 speedster.

Pay a 500% premium for poor visibility on a normally sorta unloved convertible chassis.

1989 Speedster. My favourite car.

They look amazing in silver.

Even white would be OK LOL

I seem to recall reading that the top was generally an afterthought as well, and made the car more of a novelty than actually usable?

A regular wide body cabriolet is a much better car and better proportioned, IMO. I think that they did make a few '89 Speedsters in regular, (narrow), body. That would be the better looking car.

These things have been passed around like baseball cards since they were new and they've never had any great appreciation in price.

Yes, the narrow body '89 Speedster is the one to have. And to drive, not speculate.

I brokered a 1989 930 cab back when I had my dealership, it was definitely a better looking car and a blast to drive. Originally owned by Wayne Gretzky, complete with autographed sun visor!
