Take a measuring tape and go in the basement. There should be a supporting wall under that one.
There is a wall in the basement under that one. Without opening it up, I can’t say it’s construction.

Don't over think it. If that was the original pocket door in that spot, the header is there to carry the weight of the ceiling joist. Your new opening is only 24" so it like using a 50 lbs line to catch a bluegill. No effort at all
