Removing WD-40 from SC
My son sprayed a fair bit of WD-40 on the right rear fender of my SC. What should I do to remove it?

Mineral spirits, kerosene or "Prep Sol" which is a grease and wax remover that you purchase at auto paint stores. Any of the above will remove the WD-40 along with the wax on your car, but will not hurt the paint.

Wash the car, it is mainly oil, get it off ASAP. I would wipe it off with a paper towel, clean it with a damp rag with dish soap, wash the car and then wax the area as all of the wax is gone. When all done you can move on to the punishment phase of being a parent.

Uh oh... Pierre was offended by TimT's "needlessly rude" remark.
I don't think it was really "rude"... considering the unusual nature of the question. Break out more wine and cheese and all shall be forgotten!

Pierre, if you've been reading here lately to use WD-40 to remove old gaskets, I can understand why the thought might cross your mind that it can't be too good for your paint. The product is fairly innocuous; it contains a solvent and silicone. While it could be a problem if you wanted to paint your car soon, thorough washing and re-waxing should nulify any potential problems with that aspect. Other than that, I can see no alarm about having the product on your paint.
Don't take TimT's remark in offense. He is not known to me to consciously make fun of other people's posts. It's just that in the year and a half that I have been here, I've never seen a post with concern about WD-40. He maybe thought you were trying a joke. |

LMAO!!
Karl if this question popped up on www.914club.com board think of the fun we could have. Needlessly rude? actualy I typed my response in a kind of state of disbelief...that someone could ask this question.. I was thinking its a trick question, and that Alan Funt would pop up telling me Im on candid camera. I recommended you wash the car then rewax get over it Pierre

Well, I guess I need to retract my opinion on Tim. He WILL make fun of you. Too bad. Fun on 914Club?, be my guest. Come on back to this 911 board when you have a little more patience for a new poster.
