How To Post Pic (Yes I'm Stoopid)

OK, I am stupid. How do you post a picture?

I used to do it by using "attach multiple" to upload the image file and then typing in the [IMG] tag w/ the path of the file on PP's server, which I could infer from what I had originally named the file. Now the PP server gives its own name to the file, so I gather, so I have no idea how to find and point to the re-named uploaded file.

Help, please? I must be overlooking something very obvious.

Use the "browse" button . . rather than typing it in. (?)

if a pic is already existing on the board, you can grab it (w/ it's new long name) by right clicking on the image, and going to properties . . .copy the whole path & name, out of the "URL Address," then use the "[img]" tags.

Like so:

I still don't get it.

After I click "attach multiple", click "choose", browse to my image file, and click "upload now", I see a message "upload finished". OK, I figure my image file is now on PP's server. But now what? I do not see any image, or code referring to an image, in my post's text. If I use "preview post", there's no image shown. If I use "submit new thread", there's no image in my post.

In the past, I could get past this problems by manually typing the [IMG] tags around a path (like "http://" and then "forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads2/hpgain screenshot.jpg") in my post. But now PP's server adds a string of numbers to an image filename, e.g.
"eshrunksideleft0801031059769524.jpg" and I do not know what those numbers are, so I can no longer use my workaround.

Make sense? How do you post images?

When I, click "attach multiple", click "choose", browse to my image file, and click "upload now", I may breifly see (if it's a slow modem day) a message "upload finished".

---> and then the main post window pops fwd WITH the new image string on the last line of posted text.

test

yep. . .thats what it does for me. It could be you have a security setting, or some other browser problem, hanging-up the process.

FWIW, i dont really care for the new tagging of images. It helps maybe just a few, and makes work-arounds tough for quite a few others.

Hmm, I'm not getting the last part (---> and then the main post window pops fwd WITH the new image string on the last line of posted text. ).

I've tried in Opera 7.02, Netscape 7.0, IE 6.

Well, gives me a clue to work on. Thanks!

the uploaded image will look like this

[img] http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads2/frinkani1060186922.gif [/img] but without the big spaces, you may have img's turned off in your profile.....
goto the tab at the top of the page that says "user cp" then goto "edit options" the scroll down and select "yes" next to the "img" option.......that's my guess as to why you can't get it to work.

No, I have "img on". Weird, it doesn't work from my work PC either. I am going to email Wayne, I am definitely missing something and you guys are surely right, it has to be something in my profile or setup (if not in my ability to follow simple instructions).

Gosh, I can't remember the last time I was able to post a pic. Was probably from the Mac - will have to try that.
