It was originally designed to be used in our local version of the Apache, the Rooivalk, and as mentioned before was designed specifically with the high interference interior of a helicopter in mind. At the time also did some very interesting work on eye-trackers (I am not sure if the Typhoon system as implemented includes that particular technology) and through-armour vision.
