I don't work for real. I am very fortunate to be free of the daily grind. Thats not to say I don't have responsibilities. The money I have gets up every mornining and goes to work for me. So I can sit here drink my espresso and BS with you guys.
Mother has bin after me to do a little something one to keep busy and two to bring in a little income to insure that what I have lasts. But I have friends who are in similar situations whose Mother keeps pestering them also. Theres nothing worse than having Mother nag you about getting a job. Especially when your hungover from the night before. Wheres that V8 juice with a dab of Tobasco sauce... I have recently tried something new and have been creative. It was easy and came very quickly, however at the end of the day my head felt like a drained battery. Hopefully it will work out. If it does there are at least 4 more ideas lurking about.

Yesterday, I bought a CD by a band called Interpol. The second song on the CD is called "Obstacle 1."
If ever there was a song that describes you to me, Tabs, it's that one. Man of wealth and taste notwithstanding, of course...

Interpol is interesting. To me they just sound like they are trying to be Joy Division

One of my favorite ways to spend a leisurely evening, is to sit in my music room with lights out. The tubes of my home-brewed pre-amp and monoblock power amps, provide just enough light to allow me to find the glass of Makers Mark on a nearby end table. I load the CD transport (with 2x 12AX7 DAC) with the latest disc by Patricia Barber. The room disappears.....

Try Listening to Les McCann's Invitation to Openness CD in your darkened room.

I stumbled into two MC500's for a price that was too good to be true back around the time this thread was active. I put one on Ebay hoping to offset the cost of the one I had planned to keep. Welp, when the local buyer saw the second one, he went out and got some more cash. He said he was going to power his "watt hungry" MartinLogans with them as 1000 watt mono blocks. Big regret letting the 2nd one go. I'm on the hunt for another (or similar) now.

Mcintosh to me was a big ol' single channel amp my brother and I used to hook up to an old FM receiver and a speaker we'd put together for a guitar amp, that was so heavy we could hardly lift it. Had two giant square cubes on it that must have been solid copper as it weighed a ton. I'm sure it was part of Dad's dream system that he never found time to put together.

It is still my dream to own a McIntosh. One day it will happen.

I'd love to upgrade my garage stereo to a McIntosh amp. Not sure on speakers tho. I have bookshelf LSA speakers with a two channel Yamaha receiver which is OK but not what I'd really like.
I can still remember going with a college friend to buy a stereo after he sold his first company. We sat in an empty room, they set up equipment and then kept changing stuff til he was happy. He ended up buying large Martin-Logan speakers, 2 Linn amps and a Linn pre-amp. On the way home he picked up a cheap ($300 back then) Sony CD player. When they came to his house to set up the equipment they asked if he was going to use the cheap CD player to which he replied, "yes". The clarity was beyond anything I've heard since, like hearing Mick Jagger breathing between words!

Look at Manley. Trust my ears. I replaced my VTL Manley Signature amps with Manley Snappers! Very cool and also made in the USA
