Who's Working Today (or not)

Had to come in today. Since I joined the studio earlier this year, I don't have a lot of vacation (came in late, make up for it by leaving early). I'm the only one in the office, and with a parking structure that normally holds about 700 cars, there may be 30 cars in it. No production going on until Monday after New Years.

Anybody else "working" today?

Hey Jared:

I'm in charge of motion picture and television production safety for Disney. I see people like Jennifer Garner all day long (it bites, but someone has to do it).

Let's see, Hugh gets to look at Jennifer Garner all day, drives an Aston Martin,

sounds like a pretty hard life

So whats the lowdown on Sydney, Hugh?

Cool chick?

There's only 4 or 5 people on this forum. I came in late, so I think I'll make up for it by leaving early. I'm going to take the top of the Targa and drive home and re-adjust the shifter, I did it a few weeks ago, and I think I can tweek it and make it just a little bit better.

I haven't worked on Dec. 26th for years...nor any other day of the year, unless Cindy tells me to. Hey, washing & waxing cars, vaccuming, cutting firewood, mowing the lawn, that's all work, right? Ahhhh, retirement!

Not working the regular job today but am going in to the wife's office to see what's up with the backup system not working and to install the system wide upgrade for their Practice Management system. It's also a good time to make sure that all the workstations (15 of them) are up to date for OS patches and virus protection etc.

Sydney (Jen) is pleasant enough. I've never seen her get pissy or throw a fit like a lot of other "Talent" does. I very rarely speak to the principal actors, they're usually too focused. Mostly, I hang out with the stunt and effects people, because they're the ones doing the things that usually require my attention.

I am working swing, I'm 3 days into a 17day stint. We have a 6 man 24 hour operation, one guy died 2 weeks ago & another is out with a bad back. I'm not complaining though, I need the extra money to pay for all the upgrades & backdates to my car.

The reason I haven't replied to this thread is because I was on the friggin' roof of our building all day listening to the roofer defend his work against the contractor for the recording studio who rents from us.

What utter maddness. The roof needed replacing immediately, so we started the work, but then the rains and wind came, and blew the plastic sheeting off, allowing the rain water to seep through the joists and ceiling down into the recording studio. The whole goddamned place is ruined - soundproofing, flooring, walls, you name it. At least nothing got to the console/mixing board.

And they were up in the next week to record a new album by Rod Stewart...Thank goodness for insurance!

Oh, Gawd, if I need to hug a puppy, it's right about now! Jennifer wouldn't be bad, but with puppy, at least you don't have to buy it dinner...

I also wasn't able to reply to this thread on the 25th or 26th. Lets see...... Thursday Christmas Day Van Nuys to Tahiti thru Hawaii. Friday was airbourne from Tahiti to Kona, Hawaii, then a quick turn to Van Nuys. Arrived just prior to midnight. Saturday Van Nuys to NYC, Today, Sunday, Back to LaLaLand. Then I am off until the 8th.

Happy Holidays!
