I'll bet money that the mileage is/was documented, and that somebody (i.e. the driver) will have some explaining to do:

"Uh gee, the steering wheel would only go right (not left), so we had to figure out a way to get the car back onto the hauler by taking only right-hand turns."

GrindingGears 03-15-2004 11:51 AM

Don, post some more pics of your new baby, she sounds like a beauty.

doug petty 03-15-2004 11:51 AM

it's a little early for an april fools joke

VaSteve 03-15-2004 11:51 AM

I think that this is just an April Fool's joke - 2 weeks early!
Let's hope.
I'm more careful with cars costing 1/10 of the Diablo than the author of this tall tale...

When can I stop by and take your car for a spin?

old_skul 03-15-2004 12:21 PM

I am personally let down by those of you who claim you would not take these cars for a spin given the opportunity. Get off your high horse and into the Diablo.

Rick Lee 03-15-2004 12:25 PM

No way I would have done it. Sometimes I do the right thing even when no one else is looking - well, not really;). When it comes to cars, that is just an inviolable thing. I couldn't scratch the paint on the beater-mobile of my worst enemy. Kill his family? No problem. Mess with his car? That's crossing the line.

Do you let any joe off the street drive your car? Why would you want to do that to someone else's car? Or take the chance that something could happen when driving that lambo

arerrac 03-15-2004 12:34 PM

Everyone MUST remenber. It's only a car!!!!!!!!! Almost any car can be replaced.(I did say almost!) And almost any car owned on this board can be replaced. It's only a car!!!!!!!!! It's only a car!!!!!!!!! It's only a car!!!!!!!!! Garnted, I don't let just anyone drive mine, I do not have a blanket statement that NO ONE can drive it.
Anyone on this board is welcome to drive mine!
We were not asked to coment on the shipping prectices of the shipper, but welcomed live vicariously through Don.

Noel 03-15-2004 01:06 PM

This is what happened after the next car was unloaded and the joy rides continued. :)

Think I can get a good deal on that one?

Damn, there must have been some caffeine involved with some of these posts!!!

I would never compare my wife to my Porsche. The P-car has its own room, wife has to share.

I played ball with Mark's brother so I will try to find out if the L'gini is his.

You boys seem to forget that Ms. Foster plays for the other side. So quit thinking about sniffing those seats in the Bug.

Dude, you got to drive a L'gini for $20. Count your blessings.

DavidI 03-15-2004 01:38 PM

I would give into the tempatation and drive it just for the experience. That Lambo is a monster!

Adam 03-15-2004 01:50 PM

Imagine a missed shift in the heat of the moment in that Lambo. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/shake.gif

I'm sorry, but I like to think I'm like Richard: I try to do the right thing, even when it doesn't really matter or nobody is there to see it.

(I'm guessing the transporter driver was of the "Dave's not here, man" variety...)

Back on topic: Great looking car, Don! We need more pictures! Got her running yet?

Ditto that.

I would have... hands down taken that baby for a spin, but certainly would have been more careful than Martha Stewart on laundry duty. I hear a front bumber for one of those things is like 15K. Just the bumper.

targa80 03-15-2004 02:19 PM

There is no way in hell that I would have taken that offer. The penalties for one awsh#t would have been stiff. if I was lucky enough to have a friend who owned one and he offered me an opportunity to drive it then yes I would. Other than that you would have to be a risk taker.

ZOA NOM 03-15-2004 02:56 PM

My tongue was partially in cheek. But seriously, guys, lighten up a little bit. If you would really get that worked up over a car, you're wound up way too tight. You only get one shot at a life. If it was my car, I would understand why someone nowhere near owning it would take advantage of the situation. If I was that anal about it, I would have shipped the car privately, disabled. Or maybe even flown to pick it up and drove it home myself. A Lambo on a transport truck isn't headed for someone who couldn't afford to lose it, anyway.

greglepore 03-15-2004 03:24 PM

I woulda driven the Lambo, scared s%$*less the whole time, as Mark could snap me like the twig that I am.

I just hope he doesn't have a friend with a 996TT or something that lurks here. Or I hope he has a sense of humor and the 'roid rage has worn off...
