Just to continue the series, after Paul O`Neil and Richard Clarke...
What personally struck me the most was to learn how Colin Powell was disaproving the war in Iraq. And also, that sweet deal that was cut with the Saudis: We invade Iraq, and you increase oil production in the end of the summer 2004 to make prices drop and get Bush reelected. Now, Condi`s gotta be running all over the place again. Eh, they`re all lying, if Condi says so

Does anybody (other than the media themselves) really take any book seriously anymore? 20 years ago, probably a different story. Today? People look at them as just another book-du-jour with the facts spun to suit whatever the author set out to prove. I'm sure another book will be out soon enough that will be completely contrary. Ho-hummm.

I heard Colin Powell being interviewed today...he disputed all of the things you assert. Woodward must have used Clarke as his source too!

That is true, I heard his interview with Sean Hannity on my way back from work. Well, except for the deal with the Saudis. He had nothing to say about that one. Developing.

If reports about the book are accurate, it portrays W as some kind of simpleton, single-minded Christian avenger, pathologically fixated upon Iraq.

How this differs from the media scouting reports on W for the last 3 years escapes me.

But it's Woodward, and b/c he was instrumental in bringing down a president once before, it must be an insightful blockbuster, stripping the Emperor of his clothes.
