Not sure...so much has changed agriculturally since I lived in SC.

Soybeans were a really dusty harvest this year in my part of Maryland.

This picture is a friend of mine's Fortress of Solitude. We kayak a lot together on the Potomac and he and his son are excellent surfers.

Van is a custom 4x4 that is really well sorted.

Nice post.

Always enjoy seeing visits back home and with the folks.

They say time travel isn't possible. Obviously they are wrong.

Ongoing beach construction here as a result of last year's two hurricanes that were so destructive to the coastal properties.......

This is soybean harvest season. Soybeans create a lot of dust and they can develop a toxic black mold that mixes in with it.
It's been dry here and the cloud of dust completely obscures the combine. The "huge hopper" is a "transfer wagon." They usually have two giant rubber tires or rubber tracks. When a semi can't get into the field (because the ground is too wet or soft) the transfer wagon is towed along beside the combine while the combine empties its hopper into the transfer wagon. The wagon then takes the load to the edge of the field where the semi is usually waiting while the combine fills it's hopper again. The big farmers around here run the combines from early morning till 10PM or so. .

Temps are dipping below freezing, daytime made it to 50 and lots of sunshine-
Time to go explore a lake I've not dropped a boat in yet.

Lake Shannon.

Impounded by an early hydroelectric dam, said to be the largest one on the West coast... in 1925. Now one of the smallest hydro dams from that era.
It has land locked Kokanee Salmon and some decent trout- kind of an overlooked jewel.
Low water currently, the gravel boat launch is usable at most any level... lot's of tree tops sticking out to keep it interesting.

My buddy Steve and I had the whole 7+ mile reservoir to ourselves, even found a nice sandy beach to use for lunch and a beer.
Day use only, the only improvement would be a few boat in campsites.

Nice views of Mt Baker and Shuksan here and there- some places both.

My long time buddy Steve, now sporting a new titanium right knee- working well!

Mt Shuksan

Several of these man made Osprey nests are attached to the taller trees... only saw one Osprey, but the ones we got close to seemed full of nesting material

Technically not my photo, one that Steve took

Beautiful sunset shots!

On the SE shoreline of Lake Shannon is "Devils Tower" actually a Limestone crusher plant that operated from 1920-1960, all the large concrete structures including upper Baker dam, Diablo Dam, Ross Dam etc were built using lime this regional plant's product since huge amounts of Limestone are in the local mountains.
8 stories high, you enter at the 4th level- I did not explore the lower sections, stayed up in the sunlight.
Spooky cool in my book.

Complete with Pentagram for those special occasions

Time to get on home before it get dark and spookier

A bridge over the Huron River near the UM Hospital.

The nearby Gandy Dancer (old slang for rail workers) upscale restaurant, which used to be a train station. One of my past favs.
The Amtrak station relocated nearby and still runs past it to Chicago and then on direct to Seattle/Oakland/LA/Dallas/NewOrleans, or DC/Boston to the east.
