Some Thoughts on LeMans
Just finished watching the race.
As usual Audi won again 4 of the last 5 years and I kinda discount the Bentley win (Audi owns Bentley and they wanted them to win last year) Porsche won GT class (where there any non Porsche's in GT?) Last over all ranking I saw was Porsche 11th overall The only Porsche comercials I saw where for that silly truck VW makes for them. When will Porsche start actually racing again?

Is anyone knowledgeable about the main differences between GT and GTS classes? Were there any Porsches in the GTS class or just Corvettes and Ferraris? I agree it would be nice if Porsche got into Lemans in a bigger way and why arn"t they? Is this not a large part of their heritage?

sadly, I found it somewhat dissapointing. I had a bout of insomnia and watched live at 3am pst (and had tivo'd most all of the race, watching parts yesterday and last night). There are bits of great stories taking place, but the rivalries seem limited. Was there anything other than Porsche in the GT class? And as was said elsewhere, what happened to the Vipers? At least they combined a bunch of cars for P1...maybe they could do the same for GT/GTS?
I'm afraid that I'll find the F1 race today much more interesting. There you've got 4 or 5 viable teams that could be on the podium, and they're all going head to head. |

All I know was the woman interviewer for Speed was probably the most inane and bothersome to the drivers person I have ever heard on TV outside of the Jerry Springer type of crap on in the doctor's waiting room. I'm just gonna stop watching Speed altogether. You could see the anoyance on Kristiansen's face as he endured question after question from this cow. Especially, since he was trying to get into position and game face for his stint.
She went from driver to driver with the same assinine quetions. I'd have slapped the b!tch. |

I missed it. What kind of inane questions was she asking?

So I found what I was looking for
In GT class you had Porsche as the majority, a few TVR cars, a Morgan and a Ferarri 360. The Morgan spent over 30% of the race in the pits and the 360 was a DNF early on in the race. The comentary on the TVR's sounded like they were just happy to make it to the end. So Porsche ran basically by itself and claimed a GT Class victory and placed in the top 10 over all. I personally find it disgraceful. The C5's had factory backing and where able to beat the Ferarri teams while placing in the top 6. While Porsche thought it was a good idea to advertise that SUV.

Sure isn't the glory days of the Porsche-Ferrari battles, is it?
