Hmmm, i don't get fox news. . .did someone there layout a complex question like that?. . .what did I miss?

I just watch the convention to make fun of the delegates. Only the democratic party could attract such a pitiful group of losers. When interviewed, most could barely string enough words together to make a sentence. I wonder if the dems had operatives on the street passing out cigs to the homeless to buy their votes like they did last election.

dd74 07-29-2004 09:53 PM

At the time Kerry was on, I just finished a charbroiled chicken sandwich, a martini and was heading across the courtyard from The Newsroom to Storyopolis for a discussion about the animation of Gary Baseman...

http://www.garybaseman.com/blue-rabbit.jpg

At least ten televisions were hanging in strategic positions in The Newsroom's dining area, and not one person batted an eye to the nominee's televised image.

But then again, we know better out here in So. Cal. Why let elections bother our beautiful weather and free-spirit lifestyles? We know our vote doesn't count for jack-*****, so who cares. We're our own country after all. This week it's Mexico. Next week I think it'll be Armenia.

Not too many thinking people "get" FOX news......

fintstone 07-29-2004 10:34 PM

He did not have one single idea or solid position on anything of substance! Only in America would the "antiwar party" nominate a presidential candidate whose only claim to fame is that he spent 4 months in a combat zone 30 years earlier and is a self-proclaimed "war hero." Then, both he and his VP candidate's convention speeches equate their future defense posture to be more hawkish than the current president's.....followed by bringing some seamen that served with him onto the stage..and saluting the cameras and claiming to be "reporting for duty!"....LOL How cheesy and dispespectful to those soldiers that he sought to disgrace in the '70s and those who are serving now that he and his party have sought to undermine to damage the current president. What a POS!

Bleyseng 07-29-2004 10:42 PM

You think Bush says anything of substance?
"No child left behind!"- cuts out the funding
"Lets send a man to Mars!"- hmm, no funding yet
"WMD!"- still looking under everyrock in Iraq
"Tax cuts with help the economy!" Greenspan reports we are still in a slump.
What a pos for a President.

He is either a war criminal or a liar...pick one.

It is embarassing even responding to you.

1. Bush has not cut funds to education (although he should for ineptitude of public schools).

2. Mars?...you libs can give crap one about that - nonissue.

3. WMDs...better safe than sorry. But everyone from France, to the U.N. to Russia to the Clinton Administration thought he had them.

4. Tax cuts have helped the economy...Economics 101...JFK agreed, Ronald Reagan agreed...simple fact...always works to take shackles off of the beast if you want him to work harder.

Put down the bong lefty.

dd74 07-29-2004 11:15 PM

At least a lot of people still know the words to "You've Got A Friend."

You may have something there, mentioning "quality", Todd. Maybe you should give up the campaign trail and write a modern-day reprise of Pirsig's books? Here let's throw out a canned working title:

"Tao and the Art of 911 Maintenance"

some of you need to take lessons on how to listen to a speech. it's impossible in a 1 hr speech to go into details over plans he has to change the future. that's why he urged you to visit www.johnkerry.com

listen more carefully next time.

lol

"Enemy" btw is a relatively figurative term, in this sense. "Enemy" in the sense of my job (I'm in the Navy) means the guy driving the other submarine. "Enemy" in the sense of more routine things is, say, the inspection team coming to dig through our paperwork or the police officer trying to catch me speeding. Describing the opposing party as an "enemy" does not imply that I intend to go liberal hunting (anybody know what a liberal hunting license is going for these days?), merely that I routinely disagree with their position.

I watched but turned the sound down. I fugured that anything he spoke in favor of he was also against & vice a versa so listening was kind of pointless. I did listen to the music at the end. Probably much better selections than the Republicans will have. I have to say I thought it showed some balls to play David Lee Roth's Just A Gigolo.

lendaddy 07-30-2004 05:45 AM

BS, it is common place for the nominee to lay ou atleast one detailed plan in these speeches. Visit my website? I mean comeon, he did however spend 20% of his ultra valueable time with the largest audience he has ever had reminding us that he was in Vietnam(I did not know that). He had to connect with people and I don't think he even tried. Like I said not bad not good just John Kerry.

Nostatic,

I disagree, I am generally pretty fair. I said Obama gave a good speech (though he sounded like a Republican most of the time) and I said Clinton did well (whom I cannot stand). I missed little johns, but I heard it was OK as well. Did you watch it? What was your opinion? I don't think we're off base. The guy is just bland, and I think his handlers aren't fairing too well either.

Porsche-O-Phile 07-30-2004 05:51 AM

Mullholland, are you for ****ing real or are you just trolling? KERRY is a war criminal??? What kind of crack are you smoking?

rcecale 07-30-2004 06:07 AM

By Kerry's own admission, while testifying in front of congress, he stated that he himself had committed many of the attrocities that he accused American soldiers of committing. To me, that sounds like a war criminal. Of course, that is just this Marine's humble opinion.

Bleyseng 07-30-2004 06:32 AM

Tax cuts can help depending on who the cut is for. Since Bush cut taxes for only the top 2% of the wealthy they help very little.
Reagan tried this in the 80's (remember stagflation) and had to raise taxes to pay for all his military build up after cutting taxes.

With your WMD reasoning, we should go to war with North Korea then, then India, then Pakistan, then etc....Bullcrap logic

One of the main functions of a modern government is providing education to everyone. So you logic is to decrease spending even more because the previous cuts didn't destroy it?

If you ultra right wing conservatives had your way:

Very little taxes so the infrastructure of the country would collapse!
Big Military- would big needed to lock up all the people roaming around trying to find a job for money (see 30'S Great Depression)

Big Military- to start wars with other countries that "might" threaten us at some point in time (see Germany in WW2)

Who needs schools- let the people teach themselves to read and write as its a waste of money.

Cut government- yes, let's cut the funds to the CIA/FBI so then we have no intelligence on the people who might shoot at us.

To me your logic is just plain selfisness, self serving and un-Christian.

Didn't your mother ever teach you about sharing?

Geoff

Geoff,

you're absolutely right, some here would go as far to call Mother Teresa a war criminal, they would find something, i'm sure

but you're mistaken on one thing, it's not bullcrap logic, it's Bushcrap logic.

in Nov. the choice is simple. you can elect an authentic America war hero or you can vote for the guy who just sent over 1,000 of your men/women in uniform to their deaths, over a war that he wanted, not one we HAD to fight. big difference

and don't forget the 300 billion dollar cost to the American people....contributing to the biggest deficit in history. Americans are losing their jobs while resources are spent creating new jobs for Iraqis.

"Since Bush cut taxes for only the top 2% of the wealthy they help very little."

Do you actually believe this? Everyone got a tax cut and many were actually removed from the tax paying roles. The wealthiest actually got the smallest percentage cut and now pay a larger percentage of the total tax bill. Dongers head hurts.

you're so right. you got it all figured out, man.

the $300 i saved in income taxes last year did wonders to offset the $500 increase my real estate taxes.
