It wasn't great, it wasn't bad. PRetty bland and inmy opinion he went the wrong way. The only memorable things he did were slams against Bush. Not gonna win the middle with that. I recall not a single detail uttered by him, just I'll be better. Good luck with all that

Love that stab stab stab at Bush, and then conclude with attempting to appear above negativity...The biggest hypocrisy of this last 4 days..."We are not going to attack Bush (HE IS A WAR CRIMINAL, THE ECONOMY IS IN SHAMBLES, IT IS ALL ABOUT OIL, OUTSOURCING!!!)"

It bothered me to, but I'm trying to figure out why. It's a conceit of sorts- I think he really believes that he DESERVES to be there, like it was just a matter of time before us idiots elect him.

A few things really pissed me off...Blaming Bush of lying to get us into Iraq (proven inaccurate and misleading)...Kerry also talked about "energy independence", but the guy voted against ANWR and is bought and paid for by environmentalists.
The Democrats have made us more energy dependent. In fact the enviro-wackos and they would like our gas prices to be higher...Higher tax revenues would result and the guise would be to discourage usage...Just like cigarettes, but the gold is in that usage would not be discouraged and the people would have to take it in the wallet for the attempt at social engineering....Win win for liberals. |

I never thought I'd use the words "all show and no go" with John Kerry, the dullest politician next to Robert Kkk Byrd, but tonight's speech was just that.
All he talked about was having ideas for the future. Well, what were his ideas? What plans did he lay out? none, absolutely none! I can sit here all day and say I've got ideas about curing cancer, aids, how to create a billion jobs, how to end starvation in ethiopia, but that doesn't mean I have any plan whatsoever!

![]() Kerry didn't even have ideas. . .all he had was was "it may be, in the future" . .. he could imagine these things happening. He did have one idea, that was pretty strong; healthcare. He had the idea, that if he held-up the superior coverage-plan that congressmen get, as something that he would give to every US citizen, that people would believe him. Seems, for that promise, he should have been wearing a red-suit, and have flying reindeer. ![]()

Can't wait for the next convention...It will be interesting to go back to some of these comments and contrast them with promises made by the Reps...
I predict there will be no substance there either....

so why do you guys watch it? So you have something to b!tch about? You KNOW you will not agree with anything he says...even if he used one of Bush's speeches. So what exactly is the point?
I mean come on...both guys (Kerry and Bush) are doofuses. If a reasonably intelligent person couldn't poke holes in either candidate's speech...then either they aren't trying or they aren't very intelligent. |

Why watch the DNC?
1 - Know your enemy. 2 - Same reason I read your posts, NoStatic -- conflicting viewpoints are healthy. If we didn't watch the DNC, you'd accuse us of being close-minded. Because we _do_ watch it, we're accused of being ... ???? Just my $.02... dan

I watched because you have to in order to be an informed, responsible voter. Like I said, I'm a moderate conservative and I don't vote along party lines. I will however vote for Bush because he sticks to his guns and does what he says more than most politicians. Kerry's opinion and statements change like the weather and that scares me. How could I possibly vote for a guy when I don't know what he stands for? I even know moderate Democrats saying the same thing, and they also plan to vote for Bush "because at least we know what we're getting" in their words. Now if W could just get off the Kerry bashing and lay out his plan for the next four years......

I always wonder about the word "enemy" used to describe fellow Americans with whom we may have honest disagreements.
I will watch both conventions because I might just learn something and modify my thinking. How's that for a positive spin?

![]() It is interesting to follow the nuances. Team sports don't do it for me. Political manuvering does. Here Kerry, doesn't have ANYTING currently to be accountable for (yeah, he's getting a pass on that senate duty thing) He has all the time to figure out what face to wear. . . .and this is the best he could do. .. pff. Meanwhile GW *is* making hard decisions, which have outcomes . .which will be second guessed for political possitioning by the Kerry kamp. And, he has to be thinking about the election. He saw his dad lose, even with high approval ratings. . .thats got to eat at him.

I guess I've just lost interest due to the lack of "quality" on both sides, and the angerness/bitterness/lack of class exhibited by the players and their backers.
then again, I feel the same way about pro sports these days. |

FOX news is always interesting, parsing the speeches even before they were finished. To his credit, Billy Krystal gave generally high marks to many of the speakers, but the bomb throwers were there as well.
Great political tactic..."Tell me, are you still beating your kids?" "Yes or no!!" I'm sure the leftie bomb squad will be out there in a few weeks but the conservatives (I will NOT call them Republicans; that would be to insult a great American institution) do it SO well, don't you agree? Actually, I thought Kerry did better than expected; the bar was rather low in the first place.
