Did anyone see Kerry's Midnight Address?

After the convention? Just saw parts of it on the news this morning. For a guy that keeps saying he doesn't want to make his military record part of the election, he sure kept bringing it up alot.

Cheap grandstanding right after the GOP convention's lights went out. Desperately trying to look too tough, too late.

I fail to understand how his four month service (and heroic behavior, which I do not dispute) "qualifies me to be Commander in Chief." Oh really? You still haven't disclosed your detailed plans for Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, N. Korea, etc. etc. etc. Or discussed your 20 year Senate record.

"This country needs leadership!"

Kerry's service was not just 4 months.

I believe he has talked in some detail about Iraq, down to the number of troops he believes are required.

I'm unclear on what you're trying to say.

Kerry served on active duty from August '66 thorugh January 1970, but you don't think anything counts except 4 months in Swift Boats?

Bush hasn't disclosed any detailed plans either. There is a very vague set of goals such as 'democracy to the Middle East', 'liberating the people of Iraq'. Afghanistan... nothing in detail. Other than 'Bin Laden is not a priority'. Iran? No detailed statement that I can remember. North Korea?

I'm sure Bush has been presented multiple scenarios for each issue & assume is proceeding based on his evaluation of this info. What do you expect Kerry to divulge? Some detailed invasion plan for North Korea? A devious scheme to make Iran capitalist through subliminal advertising?

I think Kerry made a huge mistake when he said this last night: He said:

"I will not have my committment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they had the chance."

Do we really need to continue with the campaign, or does he have the sense to realize how badly he's going to regret those words and try to backpedal?

Face it, he's a moron. So's the other guy, for that matter. But you're correct; that was a regretable statement. The issue is Kerry needs to define what "serve" is. One can be in the Nat'l Guard and "serve." Or one can kill enemies and say, "I served." As far as "refused to serve," well...that's an unfortunate construct right there.

Yep. I'm sticking with the moron I know. I'm not thrilled about it, but maybe '08 will give us a better crop of idealogues.

Hmm, Giuliani and McCain would be an interesting partnership. However neither would want the back seat.

Maybe KERRY can fix it all in four months like he did in VIET NAM, and then sell everybody out when he leaves.............

Too bad the deferment that Kerry applied for was disapproved. He would not have to contend with this issue....Of course we may have actually won in Vietnam without his treasonous activity after his short service.

Gosh, if 4 years as a junior officer qualifies one for president...why didn't you guys nominate that goofy liberal general that was running against Kerry for the democratic nominee? At least he didn't protest in support of the enemy.
