Bad weekend for terrorists

In Pakistan, the Pakistani military killed Amjad Hussain Farooqi in an early morning raid and several others were captured. Farooqi is believed to have been involved in assassination attempts against Pakistan's president, and also in the murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002.

A senior Hamas leader, Izz al-Din al-Sheikh Khalil, was killed Sunday by an apparent car bomb in Damascus, Syria,

And Kerry still trails Bush in the polls…

A bad weekend for terrorists.

And now the have Putin on their tails...he claims to want to hunt them down wherever they are...and then, I suppose, "rehabilitate" them...

Yep..Putin will rehabilitate them all right.... He will hunt them down and dispose of them..as painfully as possible...he has been consulting with the Israelis on the best way to do so....Soon terrorists will be begging for the safety of Abu Garib and the safety of wearing panties on their heads.

You just have to be smarter than you sound here in these posts. You must be, right?

Do you seriously believe that we are hunting down and "eliminating" all of the big terrorists, and that all of the millions of others in this ideological struggle will just decide that the U.S., George Bush, and Russia are the new warlords to be respected?? Do you really believe this? Tell me that it isn't so.

Putin's "methods" will have the same wonderful results that Israel's have had in "eliminating terrorism", and not incidentally make him the world's biggest terrorist, which is always a wonderful thing when trying to influence the minds of a huge population that considers the "ends justify the means" when dealing w/ (their perception of) pure evil.

It is also ironic that you mention Abu Ghraib w/o so much as the faintest clue that it did more to make us unsafe than all of the stupid moves of the past several years. If you are a true indication of the density of the Republican/right-wing/AM radio mindset, all I can say is that you are a serious danger to peace.

Do you believe getting rid of our "moron" president will change the US, so the world gives us the respect we deserve???

Speeder I take great offense at your use of the term warlord to describe the President of the United States of America. That may be cosidered "cutsie" out there in michael moore-land, but in the rest of this great country we place the President, even that lying ass cooze hound that Bush replaced, high above the likes of the taliban & other 3rd world thugs.

As for who's smart, it seems that the big fat brain that you're working with has summised that our only hope is to submit, or at least elect Kerry. I hate to be the one to break it to you big boy but neither one of those is going to happen. And the course to take here is to make life miserable for these muslim bastards. As far as Abu Ghraib, any imbecile that thinks putting drawers on some jihadist's head is a war crime ought to have to go live in one of those hell holes, the Sudan comes to mind. Picture your wife or sister or mother in the situations described in this article:

"Each of us was raped by between three and six men….One woman refused to have sex with them, so they split her head into pieces with an axe in front of us."

This happened in Darfur, from which Sudanese military personnel actually airlifted women to Khartoum to serve as sex slaves.

Meanwhile, Indira Dzetskelova, the mother of one of the child hostages in Beslan, Russia, reports that "several 15-year-old girls were raped by terrorists." Her daughter "heard their terrible cries and screams when those monsters took them away."

This indicates that there are two things the massacre in Beslan has in common with the ongoing massacres in Darfur: both, no less than the 9/11 attacks, are examples of Islamic jihad terrorism, and both are characterized by rape.

The jihadist element has been made clear by the ringleaders of both atrocities. Sudanese General Mohamed Beshir Suleiman recently declared: "The door of the jihad is still open and if it has been closed in the south it will be opened in Darfur." In southern Sudan, of course, the jihad was waged against Christians; in Darfur, the targets are black African Muslims whose Islamic bona fides don't satisfy Khartoum. As for Beslan, the Chechen jihadist leader Shamil Besayev warned the Russian government last winter: "Praise Allah, we are dreaming of dying in jihad, we are dreaming of dying on the way of Allah, so that we could earn paradise and mercy of Allah."

And you say about Flintstone "all I can say is that you are a serious danger to peace." You sir and your ilk, are a serious danger to freedom.

Yep, like I've said, if Dubya wins this time then I think it'll be the end of republican domanation in Washington DC. It's about time for the pendulum to swing back, and your guy Dubya is the PERFECT guy to help that process.

Hey Mule, For starters, why don't you post your real name here when you are throwing flames, you little girl?

You probably drive a Buick.

If you think that the Abu Ghraib scandal was just a case of putting underwear on someone's head, I suggest that you are the imbecile. I have heard that phrase somewhere before, (underwear on head, etc.....), where does that come from? Rush Limbaugh? The problems, and court martials, are a result of torture and possibly murder along w/ some really stupid and out of control humiliation for the amusement of some dumb-ass hillbillies like you back home, and yes, it made us a whole lot less safer.

And I don't believe that you gave Clinton any respect while he was in office, you're a liar. The term "warlord" in my post refers to the Islamic world's perception of Bush and Putin, and actually might be a little kinder than the view they really have of them. I don't consider Bush a warlord, just an idiot who is in WAY over his head.

Bad weekend for terrorists? I don't know. A whole bunch of guys are regarded as martyrs right now with others ready to follow in their footsteps. How bad is that?

Three years ago, there was talk of al Quaeda having 60K affiliates around the world. We have killed how many? Since there isn't really a 'membership' but a loose coalition of groups, we can't grab membership cards off dead bodies and rack up points.

For the thousands of affiliates/sympathizers we've killed, we have aided in the recruitment of thousands -- maybe tens of thousands -- more. The Arab world seems to have some tolerance for us being in Afghanistan, but very little for us being in Iraq. Even the Bush administration admits attacking Iraq has made it a 'magnet for terrorists.'

So hooray for us for getting the Pakis to nail another known anti-American bad guy.

But I refuse to call any weekend good when American soldiers die on the soil of a country that was no threat to us.

OK, that Buick remark was a low blow, and I apologise for it.

How can terrorists ever have a bad weekend, when death is considered part of their job description? They're not exactly reading from the same playbook as us, if you know what I mean. Understanding this would be a good first step for our leaders.

I'm not certain, though, that one can negotiate with a person who's soul purpose is to die for their cause. Look at Beslan and the school masacre. The terrorists wanted to die.

Intellect plays as large a role as perception and ideals with these guys. In the case of a terrorist, what is lacking in intellect, is probably replaced with fanaticism.

To an extent. I think any good terrorist should except death as a means to an end. If not, they're in the wrong line of work.

Particularly those who believe that death as a terrorist carries special rewards in paradise.
