Just make sure that this is the last car you are going to give to her. My sister who is in Grad school now and is going on 25, VERY SMART, can't drive. My Old man just gave her another car lucky number 4. The car she had looked similar to yours except the driver side mirror would always be dangling by the control wires, and the leather interior was thrashed by her 800 lbs rotwheiler horse thing a majiggy that left a smell remenicent of an uncleaned kennel. Based on my experience with two sisters (not to say all girls are the same) that have been threw your daughters age group they seem to change styles by the week, but the driving record hasn't changed much in 8 years. Good luck, be patient, and teach her to look before she goes. Oh and for what it is worth some of the best lessons you learn as a kid are the ones your parents are there if you get in over your head, but when these small pronlems arise I think she should start taking at least some of the burden off of your shoulders. Maybe something like paying the increased amount of insurance premiums that you have to pay. Personal responsibility is something we all have to learn and it is better to ease into it now than to get hit hard when you move out on your own.

Get a lot of duct tape and old tires, then just copy the design used on bumper cars, should do the trick.

I'm suprised that several people here are so confident in their description of Schrup's daughter having seen one photograph of her...
Yep, I agree the car is indicative of some things, but I'm rather taken aback at some comments made by those who have never met this person. Why be so judgemental on a topic that you weren't even asked about? I never understood people that feel almost compulsively compelled (there's a mouthful) to offer their unrelated and unrequested (another!) opinions.

Speaking as a 19 year old myself, in some respects I think it's too late to do much about this girl. If at her age she hasn't learnt responsibility and isn't mature enough to accept the value of things (e.g. a car) and 'say no to drugs', then something radical is needed. Those are the sort of things that a child should be doing from the age of 13 at the latest.
I suggest drug testing, revocation of licence, and a mandatory 10% improvement in her school results (even if she is getting high 80s, you can always move to high 90s). And I sure as hell hope I never have children.

How can you be that bad of a driver? I don't understand how someone can do that much damage to a car, especially after the first incident..
The one "accident" I've been in is when I got to close to a curb and scraped my hubcap, in a 1991 volvo station wagon. Since then, I've inheritied a 1992 Nissan Maxima, which I had no accidents but got pulled over for speeding, and had to do some community service. No ticket, no insurance rate hikes, just two ten hour days at a local nursing home. After that, I bought my 944, with all my own money(well, some of it was PayPal so I traded with my dad - PayPal for Cash, but it was still mine.) And I have done all the work on it myself, and I haven't dented or scratched it all up, either. Basically I would like someone to explain to me why someone can destroy something so easily, especially something worth that much money. Maybe she should learn about money..? |

I think she's doing it on purpose because kids that are into the goth/punk stuff don't want to seem too superficial. And the Mustang couldn't be cool in her circles. Just get her a sixties dodge dart with nice oxidized paint (very cool) and she'll be okay.
Plus if she bangs it up who'll care???
