Anyone else reading the 9/11 comission report?
I just started it last night. Intresting reading. Though I felt sick reading the first chapter.

I agree, no matter what your political bent is, it is interesting reading. The lack of readers shows how ingorant we Americans like to be.

I was suprised at how vivid of a picture my mind painted of what took place on those planes that day as I read it. I felt like I was there watching it unfold from the inside. There were a lot of details included that I had never heard. Like Flt 175 hearing the "suspicious" message just before they were taken over.

The first chapter is a basic layout of what happened that day. Cockpit transmissions, air traffic control transmissions, testimony from controllers, other planes transmissions, cell phone transmissions etc. Sort of a step by step of that day. Acutally, it was very disturbing.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul! |

For me, the first chapter is all the book is worth. The rest of the commission was clearly for show. Plus, I think the whole commission was flawed becasue one member of the commission in particular should have been testifying.

The comission points out that in reality the military had only 9min warning on only one of the four flights. the others it was not made aware of until after the flights had concluded. There was confusion becuase the order to "shoot" was given by the VP (all be it after the fact, but he did not know it was after the fact) and normaly the order would go CinC(prez) to the SECDEF(rumsfeld) to NORAD and out to NEADS. But since the order came from the VP who had been given authority by the CinC it was second guessed and not passed out. It makes me wonder if somthing had happend to the CinC and the military did not know that the VP had taken over would the order still be second guessed. The fact that there were only 4 jets in the air on CAP (2 from Otis, 2 from Langly) had nothing to do with the VP and everything to do with the FAA and its ability to comprehend what was happening and comunicate it to the military. Sorry, you will have to find another reason to hate Chenney

Unless you live in a hole, you have heard this report before. If you are truly reading the report then what does it say about this? http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/september2004/080904wargamescover.htm The drill scenario also explains a comment made by air traffic control personnel which was featured in a July 2004 BBC television report. Click here for that video clip and article. The controller is told that a hijacked airliner is heading for New York and responds by saying, "is this real world or an exercise?"

Catch:
was not trying to sting. Many persons have many reasons to hate DC, some good some bad. Not my place to set blame. I think you should read the book and decide for yourself. But the comission reports it very differently than that website does. Plus since the website quotes Dan Rather you may want to double check the facts. LOL Seriously it is a sobering and powerfull read seems to just lay out the events as they happend and were backed up by etiher recording and when only substatiated by testimony it states that. So it allows you to decide. As far as the comment about it being a drill, that was in the book. I think anyone who has just been given the authority to shoot down a comercial air liner had better ask if it is a drill. Having spent time in the Navy I can tell you that practicing drills over and over again is common. Actully shooting a plane out of the sky is not.
