Isn't that the site that cheney meant to plug during the debates?

I believe that Cheney was saying: Hey, even that subversive leftist propaganda site backs-up my point.

Here is the quote:

CHENEY: Well, the reason they keep mentioning Halliburton is because they're trying to throw up a smokescreen. They know the charges are false. They know that if you go, for example, to factcheck.com (sic), an independent Web site sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania, you can get the specific details with respect to Halliburton.

It's an effort that they've made repeatedly to try to confuse the voters and to raise questions, but there's no substance to the charges.

Kind of like if I said, please refer to 350HP930's Eram calculations, they show zanack is FOS. (doesn't mean you are right about anything else. )

Eram!!

Seems pretty risky to send the nation to a "subversive leftist propaganda site" huh?

LMAO.

Again, please back up these allegations with proof that factcheck.org is such a thing.

God you guys...anything that tells the truth....

shaking my head.

As I have said before, the neo-cons, right wingers and other loons that like bush will do anything to prevent the facts from getting in the way of their opinions.

Pretty misleading to post a graph of all US debt (personal, consumer, business, government, etc) in place of federal debt. Typical liberal tactic to obfuscate tha truth....Was it intentional? or did they fool you too?

cool_chick 10-24-2004 08:20 AM

What's weird to me is that if someone (or in this case, a neutral website) has even one fact that reflects negatively to Bush, it's labeled things such as "subversive left-wing". It's so strange.

Plus, I noticed that the poster didn't even take the time to discuss why the content on factcheck.org was false. Why is that?

And re: Typical liberal tactic to obfuscate tha truth

First of all that's a republican tactic. Secondly, it's POINTED OUT RIGHT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE GRAPH. It plays a part.

Ok you know what, I give up....go ahead, endorse high deficit...it's awesome, a beautiful thing....will not affect anything...we can go on like this forever!

Yea...party's on me. The deficit means nothing! Wanna take a cruise with me? Everyone...come along! We'll just add it to the deficit since it doesn't matter.

pwd72s 10-24-2004 08:38 AM

Hmmm, I wonder...how many here are making minimum payments on their credit card balances?

Hey, if its good enough for the government why shouldn't the average american do the same?

The problem is I don't think the government is even making minimum payments on some of this debt.....hence part of the problem of stripping other programs (e.g., social security).

A good point is raised....how long can one go with paying just the minimum payment...then continuing to borrow, then paying the minimum payment...eventually I would think one can't even afford the minimum payment anymore......

Of course the graph has the correct labels...but you used the information to justify something toatlly different....either you do not understand the difference and made a mistake (I can accept that since most of your posts indicate a basic misunderstanding of politics or economics)....or it was dishonest.

You taking a cruise and inviting does nothing to change the federal deficit...in fact, if anything, it would actually reduce it.

cool_chick 10-24-2004 08:45 AM

Reduce it?

C'mon america! Let's do our part to reduce this deficit!

whatever. Did Rush tell you that?

A lot of it is true....some isn't. The problem is...it is a liberal site...run by a liberal university...with liberal directors. See for yourself. The problem is not so much their lack of accuracy...but what they choose to "factcheck." Anything a Conservative says is "factchecked" and even if basically true, minor discrepancies are cited and worded in a way that make it appear that there is some sort of conspiracy

Most liberal statements are given a pass...and if looked at.....only on the surface and in a positive light.

No just simple economics that one would learn in college.....

I don't listen to Rush....I have a job. Apparently you do. what is his take on the deficit.

cool_chick 10-24-2004 08:56 AM

Can you think of examples that liberal statements aren't being factchecked and are given a pass?

Can you give examples of, if looked at, is on the surface and in a positive light?

I'm being genuine as I don't see it that way and am curious about this.

Think Gun Control. Then ask some questions.
