WTF? Are these the desperate hours?

I detect a tone of "worry" in some of today's threads. Surely it can't be...

...or can it?

This election needs to be decisive.

A few counties in Ohio have more people on the voter rolls than adults living in each of those counties.

Considering the Dem's "win at any cost". .scratch that. Considering the Dem's "beat Bush at any cost" mentality, it has me worried.

Stuffing ballot boxes does not lead to good out comes.

It's the Republicans in Ohio that are sending 'challengers' to the polls in heavily Democrat areas to challenge voters and slow down the process. The principle is that you can make people wait more than 15-30 minutes, they won't vote.

And it was the CEO of Diebold - the company that makes voting machines - who publicly stated he would do everything he could to deliver Ohio's vote to Bush.

Thom -

They're not sending "challengers", observers or any body else who could help monitor and prevent fraud

I haven't seen the latest polls, but dead, imaginary and/or canine voters traditionally break heavily Democratic, so this open door to fraud can only aid Democrats.

Well thanks for trying to make me feel better Thom . . .but what you say doesn't pass the pale.

Diebold (or other) electronic voting machines are absolutly WRONG.

Our voting is fast becoming a JOKE. NAACP signing up crack-heads, to put Dick Tracey, Mary Poppins et al on the voter rolls . . to vote absentee . . .what a joke.

Voting needs to be show-up, or shut-up.

...but it's okay for Republicans to sign up phony voter registration tables and throw away Democrat registrants? It's a pretty well-documented scam pulled in Nevada and Oregon, in case you missed it.

Not to mention the ever-famous 'expanded possible felon list' scam that worked so well in Florida that it's been exported to other states. Not to mention that it's being worked again in... wait for it... Florida.

Republican Party officials in Ohio took formal steps yesterday to place thousands of recruits inside polling places on Election Day to challenge the qualifications of voters they suspect are not eligible to cast ballots.

Every non-felon, voting-age US citizen deserves the right to vote. What about people who aren't in the country, they can't vote? What if you're in the military, doing missionary work, Peace Corps, CIA, etc.? You don't have the right to vote?

Are you kidding me??? What if you have a family emergency outside the country, or in another state... you shouldn't be allowed to vote absentee???

I sure hope you're not serious, because you could be in one of the above situations one day. And I'd like to see how you'd feel hearing that someone doesn't deserve to vote absentee or out of precinct.

The real problem is there is no way being made available tooptimize the use of technology to the fullest.

For example:

1. Voter has a pin/SSN to vote. Voter must also enter a valid state ID or Driver's License #, sort of like a username/password.

2. Each voters votes instaly go into the web, encrypted, to multiple unbiased counting firms, to be counted and documented. Each party headquarters also receives votes and voters real-time.

3. Each voters code can be used only once, no matter where they are voting from.

4. Voters are thoroughly screened for identity prior to voting. People interfering with voters in any way are arrested for conspiracy to overthrow the government, and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Just an idea...

This went to court Sunday. The judge struck the Republicans down, I think.
