Pelicanite demographics

I think it'd be interesting to find out what a typical Pelicanite does for a living, educational background, political leanings, racial or ethnic history, religious beliefs, marital status, etc. Has anyone done a poll or taken a survey? I frequent the 914, Miata, S2000 and the Ferrari boards as well and have been surprised to learn about some of the folks there.

For instance, the majority of Miata posters are male but they do have a few female members and they seem to mod their own cars. The 914 members are much like us here but a few more strip their cars down to bare metal. I thought the Ferrari guys would be much older, more established and worldly, maybe better educated. They do have some MDs, JDs and PhDs but a few are enterpreneurs who made their fortune w/o the benefit of higher education! No surprises at the S2000 board though. Mostly young and Asian or Caucasian.

There has been a few such polls, including the "what do you look like" thread. While I have considered that I would like to read such information, I'm wary of contributing such information at risk of the information being used for no good purpose (ie. to further divide the populace of the board and especially OT based on these demographics.).

Good topic. Puts some faces on the screen names.

- 41 y/o Asian-American male.
- Married, 2 kids.
- Buyside equity analyst, previously lawyer.
- BA (mathematics), JD, MBA, CFA. Proud product of public higher education.
- Born NYC, lived all over (Midwest, Pac NW, Canada, East Coast, Europe), but mostly a Californian since mid-70s.
- Agnostic (evolving), family is Catholic.
- Fiscal: conservative, increasingly so. Social: moderately liberal, environmentalist. Foreign affairs: realpolitik. Used to vote 70% Dem, 30% Rep; now voting almost all Dem given the parties' fiscal, environmental, social policies.
- Interests: fishing, cars, watches, cameras, music, travel. Used to be a computer geek, then got sick of it and went Mac.

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15 year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims, like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy - the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring, we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds. Pretty standard, really.
