One time a cute 20'ish girl was in the office and I saw a chinese charachter tattoo on her lower abdomen. I chuckled a little and she asked what I was laughing at. Americans are also brought up to believe certian things, we are all ignorant regardless of where we are raised. Apparently, some people on this thread were brought up to think that an American life is somehow more worthy than an Iraqi life.

I didn't say Saddam was a good leader, or that he should still be in power. I just tried to shed light on the plight of the Iraqi, and the fact that they are defending their own country, and that I feel that "terrorist" is an inacurate, misleading term in most cases.

I didn't, nor did I read someones post where they thought the US was invading Iraq to keep? Where did this tangent originate from? The fact is, we are still invading, regardless of the timeframe of occupation.

Looks like someone is in denial that some people over there actually dislike a dictatorship. 952, How does your country work, government wise? If you consider how the baathist party, certain clan groups, and Saddam's family used brutality and terror to control Iraq, they could be described as "terrorists". As these factions and others that would behave in the same manner fight US troops (in unconventionable ways), most Americans are comfortable in calling them terrorists.

It depends on whether you think they are defending their country - or looking to gain or regain power by other than democratic means.

Pick up a copy of "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Nazi Germany" it is an excellent entry-level primer on how Hitler came to power. I do concede that there were elections involved, but that is not nearly the extent of how he was able to attain his position.
