We are supposed to be killing. And we have a budget crisis. I think it's cheaper to replace a bullet, than it is to feed this idiot and nurse him back to health. Basically, in war, if you don't want to die, surrender!!!

You guys haven't seen some of the fish I've seen. There was this carp that had a bazooka. Nearly took out my car. And this largemouth bass...he was a killer. I heard he had a tank or something.
Anyone who can't see the difference between an act (wrong or right) during wartime and a senseless act of vicousness perpetrated in a clearly innocent animal during peace (if you can call LB peaceful)...we'll, let's just say you might want to up your dosage. Unless of course the shark at the LB aquarium was armed. And in fact, I'll bet that was the case. I heard about this tiger shark that used to carry a Mac10. He was a bad mofo. So maybe those kids were just doing us a huge service trying to rid LB of terrorist fish. They're heros, dammit! |

Okay, David. I follow you. But who is the unarmed fish? Not the guy face-down in the mosque. Particularly after the marine the day before, had been injured by a booby-trapped body that injured six other marines and killed one.
Granted, in any other circumstance, the soldier would be wrong. But I take into account what he's been through/what he's seen. I believe the ones who are most at fault are these senior colonels and generals who make it sound like Fallujah is a done deal when it obviously is not. Hearing "...we've broken the enemy," etc., can subconsciously conjure up an idea of victory, and make it more difficult to understand why an armed soldier would shoot an unarmed injured enemy combatant. Even the media didn't suggest the soldier was wrong, and we all know how much they hate this war. The fact is Fallujah is different from Iraq in general. It's big and nasty. Anyone who thinks the marines should exercise diplomacy should go there and try it themselves.

Your stories of gun toting fish are a little far fetched my man, I don't by that for one second. I do however know of a clownfish that carries a switchblade, he's pretty good with throwing stars as well. At least I think it's a he, hmm never asked. Maybe that's why he/she is so pissed.

Why can't you clowns get it. THEY yes THEY have chosen a tactic of using live & dead humans as bomb delivery systems. Therefore our soldiers are forced to shoot first & ask questions later. Let you brother get blown up & see if you feel differently.

AFAIK, this group had surrendered a day or two before . . . only to go back to shooting at our guys, from a place of worship, once again. That is, the guy shot was FAKING surrender again. ...playing dead this time. No doubt hoping he could wait for our guys to turn and leave, before he started shotting again. Purry, you get speeders special assclownfish award.

Yes, we need to get a "fin" up on the immediate situation there.

According to ABC news who showed the footage last night, one Marine unit had engaged the enemy who surrendered because of their injuries. As the area was unsafe, the Marine unit left the wounded enemy and was going back to get them the next day. Unfortunately for the insurgents ANOTHER Marine unit came across them and one of the wounded was shot.
BFD, no ones perfect and ***** happens in combat.

But again, the operative word in all this is "looked." I would imagine all assumptions go out the window at this rate. Who knows, though, what really was going on; I think the "history" of the soldier/shooter and what he witnessed the day before is as important as his action against the injured enemy. Not at all a black and white situation.

I would expect that the terrorist in question made some move that appeared to the soldier as if he might have been reaching for a detonator or something. That would be a very reasonable explanation given past days events. Doesn't mean that its 'ok' by any means, but it was surely necessary given the circumstances.

Joe Clark and Purrybonker- Pretty easy to armchair quarterback from in front of a CRT isn't it? Might be a little different if you were the guy in the middle of combat.
Don't come off as so self-righteous. You tried and convicted your own fellow citizen and a soldier before hearing his side. Who's really the bad guy(s) here? |
