I love the thought of Condi walking into a room full of misogynist third world leaders. They may have a harem at home, but a woman who can call in an air strike on their tent will do wonders for attitude adjustment.

I expect some of the bureaucratic fossils and foot-draggers at State might be a bit nervous at this appointment. My take on Ms. Rice is that she demands more than they are accustomed to delivering. I hope so, anyway. I think it is very interesting to see a Secretary of State so personally close to the President. I don't that has happened in a while.
