Posting about a extremely remote and unlikely hypothetical situation out of concern for PP losing business, then openly naming 2 actual other sources where Mr. Hypothetical could shop for parts?? Hmmm..
Yeah, there's lots of people out there who have never heard of Auto Zone! - just kidding - I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT! HA

Seriously, I would NEVER buy any electrical component for any of my vehicles from Auto Zone! NEVER! I've learned the hard way.

People remember quality of a product long after the thought of the price has been forgotten.

Lynn, the problem with your letter is really quite simple. If, as a business owner, I took action to stop the "dem-bashing", or whater you would have me do, then I would be setting an example I don't think I would want to have to follow.

See the "edited" version of your letter below, and then substitute my editing with any of probably hundreds of variations and you will see my point.

If you, as a customer, are so offended by the postings of individuals here, then honestly, I would ask that you either accept it or to please take your business elsewhere. There are too many other customers that require my attention in much more pressing matters than for me to be concerned with your non-issue.

Dear Pelican Parts.com:

I am a frequent user of your site. I’ve ordered parts in the past, own both of the books and like most everything about Pelican.

I represent the perfect demographic for your company--am in my mid-50’s, college educated, HH income of $100+, own a home with a garage, am a DIY guy and own an early 911 Porsche that seems to always need new parts.

I have a starter sitting in the floor of my garage needing replacement. There is only one problem.

There is only one problem.

People buy where they feel they are welcome. Several months ago, I “discovered” the Off Topic part of your site and began posting my opinions. I quickly discovered that, according to most of that group, I am a cry-baby, whinning, MS Windows User.

Rather than quietly “voting” with my pocket book and calling Zim’s, Performance Products or one of any number other Porsche parts suppliers, I am giving you the opportunity to discuss with me why your company allows this situation to exist on your website.

I look forward to your comments,

Sincerely,

Windows-Porsche Owner

You can start with the following for your substitutions:
1.) B-Gruppe Member
2.) Targa Owner
3.) Cab Owner
4.) SCWDP Member
5.) Owner of a p-car with a water-cooled engine (Maybe even a V-8!
6.) I have a cupholder in my 911...

The list can go on and on....

Anyone else care to add to this list?

Randy

Excellent point Randy.

. . .which is amazing, coming from one of you damn Windoz users.

W/ my knowing what you do, the hypocrisy of your yammer was too damn thick for me not to post something.

The way you approach problems here is disgusting. Your "Yankee911 troll", your 'playing the victim roll', and now this "control them consevatives" -- blackmail attempt . . .. Absolutly disgusting!

Well, here is post 1,000 (thanks Joe for pointing that out I hadn't been paying attention).

Now that I've slept on it, as a customer of Pelican Parts, I have as much right to show my ass on a regular basis on this board as the rest of you who do it on a regular basis. If Pelican Parts.com wants to throw off a paying customer from their site, one who makes a feeble attempt at posting in a respectful manner--it's their business plan.

1. Randy----I started out this mess with this opening statement:

YOU are the Marketing manager for Pelican Parts.com.

The YOU I was talking about are most of the posters in the political OT threads. It wasn't addressed to Wayne, it was a rhetorical question which I though had validity. I was asking that YOU (the group) make the business case for my question. I still am. Does that make it any clearer??

2. John, sorry, I'm not a woman and don't work for a Porsche dealer.

3. Lubemaster--please re-read my first two posts. As far as I know, the only Marketing Manager Pelican has is Wayne and Jason.

4. 928Ram--Thanks for the wrist slap. The only reason I mentioned another source is a poster said the only reason I was here was because the prices were lower. With the internet today, you can buy just about anything cheaper somewhere else--just depends on if you want to accept the risk of the other seller.
I demonstrated that prices here were not necessarily lower than elsewhere. I have bought here in the past and will buy here in the future.

So 4 pages later and plenty of name calling. Other than Jason, nobody has made a clear case why a Democrat who is bashed on the OT part of this board would buy from Pelican Parts.com.

And, BTW, Randy--that's Democrat in the general sense--not just me or Joe--how large that group is, I don't know. Maybe it's inconsequential. I will leave that question to the real brains on this OT Forum.

I'm going out in the garage and take a solenoid off a 911 starter and see if I can fix the broken stud that all the power lines hook up to.
Ok, so now you want to hang around since you now realize that we're all adults and being so no one really cares or believes you when you say you're gonna pull the trigger on yourself?

Fine ...

But as of for the rest of your hypothetical example, gimme a break. It has validity, assuming that YOU'RE NOT IN A BIASED ENVIRONMENT. You took a page out of 952's book with your latest stunt. It was a loaded question.

Thanks. I just got up and now I've got a headache

Gracious - this thread is such a waste of time. People do vote with their pocketbooks, and shop accordingly for the best price. Provided how expensive Porsches and their parts can be, I expect Wayne and Pelican Parts to be the leader it is in the Porsche aftermarket business, despite political leanings.

As for licensing agreements, Lynn, again - no threat here (nor from Island, it seems). I perceive a difference between your product and Island's as Island doesn't have "Porsche" written on his or "911," though again, I've never seen his product.

Regardless, I will not rule out Porsche AG having some pale, bifocal-wearing internet lawyer surfing around on Google with a "Porsche" search, and invariably latching onto this website and this thread.

Or, if someone doesn't particularly like your bantering, they could also forward your hats website straight to Porsche Licensing. Believe me, I've seen the spite of people in manufacturing. This thread can't possibly be helping your situation.

I like you guys.. you make me laugh!

But seriously... as a card carrying democrat, liberal, tree hugging, native Californian and a self admitted Jesus freak (democrat Jesus freak? boy am I messed up!)
I don't really care much for the political threads so I usually just stay away from them, however when you drag PP into the mud pit.
I admit I am a little bummed about the direction OT has taken recently however there are still fun threads around that make it worth while dropping by here once in a while. The dog picture thread and the fold you shirt tread come to mind, the titty/booty threads are mildly offending but again if that is not your thing then just don't go there (I DO like titty/booty but I'm more of a hands on kind of guy in that area).
Okay so much for common sense, my point being not buying from PP just because you feel you have been beat up by some conservative bullies after entering an open form that you know has a predominate political bent is just silly IMHO.

How do you know that the guy who owns your local auto zone isn't a nazi? Although I suppose if your a nazi that isn't necessarily a bad thing. See, I'm not any good at this politacal stuff...
I'm going back to looking at pictures of puppies...
you can all go straight to...
uh...

Pelican parts and buy some stuff!

my 2 cents :

using the boards is NOT a pre-requisite to buying from Pelican Parts
Buying from Pelican Parts is NOT a pre-requisite to using the boards

I view them as totally different.

I have even seen posts were someone asks where to find a part.. as they have forgotten that this BBS is sponsored by a parts company..

If there were 2 people outside the shop in the parking lot by thier cars talking politics, would you feel responsible for the content of the conversation to a customer driving up ???

The only thing that keeps me away from the OT is when I am busy or the chorus of idiocy reaches such a critical mass that I prefer to wait for the cabal of right wingers to simmer down.

To anyone who decides to stay away for good or lashes out at pelican for allowing us to express ourselves in the forums, I say you need to learn how to play well with others cause real life is not much different than what bubbles to the surface here.

The only recommendation I would make to keep some of the more senseless threads in check is a time limit to how often a person can post in one thread.

Some of the childish name calling and banter I have seen in some recent threads has been more offensive than any political discussion I have ever read.

A few years ago, we had a major problem in our church and when the issue came to a decision point, a bunch of people threatened to leave and "take their money with them". Well, when all was said and done, we lost several dozen families, but the weekly giving did not go down at all!

I really doubt that any serious "Porsche person" would let something as trivial as the "off topic forum" convince them to leave Pelican Parts. If they do leave, they were just looking for an excuse.

Man isn't this still America?? Last time I checked it was. If someone, somewhere didn't get pissed off about something like when the sun came up, we'd all be be living in Happyland. What ever his/her problem is with this forum/website; at least we all know that they have a pulse and can fog a mirror. That's about it though.

Some people aren't happy period. And they look for a target to unload some of that wonderfulness on. LynnsABCs you just were on the receiving end that day, that situation. Don't lose any sleep because most of the rest of the population is normal.

Man - I must be gettin old or maybe my stupidity is catching up with me but by the tone for his/her posts I had the impression that LynnABC worked for or was a vendor for PP. Turns out not the case? I guess I should cancel that check for that male enhancer...

Sad part is, with this guy's track record he'll be back with another ailias - I have a feeling we've about to be invaded by Trolls.

It was 2AM, and I'm laughing my a$$ off tattered out of my mind (went to a club) reading all this boo-hoo drivel - I really can't believe that adults out there are really like this? Think this is abuse? Oh my, we have some living to experience.

After the amount slashing you did under "yankee" you know what? You have no right to carry on like this. Maybe the links will be a good reminder to the Moderators on what you are really all about - I hope they lock you out for good, you deserve it. This isn't persecution, it's karma.
