Red face Someone tried to steal my Porsche - Meet the Rottweiler's

On Tuesday I was hauling in a lot of new shiny parts and I had my shop doors open all day and into the night. Well after closing up for the evening I put the Rottweilers in the shop so they could be in from the cold and turned off the lights.

In the middle of the night I heard this scream of terror and looked out the front door and the Rottweilers were standing at the end of the driveway playing ( tugging between them) with something. I went out to see and it was some guys flannel shirt .

Some poor bozo had snuck in the side of my yard, opened the gate by force, snuck up to the back door of my shop, opened it, and met the Rottweilers - what joy these dogs bring

be careful...big dogs bring big lawsuits. Even a trespasser can sue you for a dog bite.

I'm not just spouting off either. my homeowners insurance paid 175K to a guy who broke into my house and got mauled by my german shepherd. however they did not pay to clean the *********s blood off my carpet.

also...I was forced by county animal control to have her put down afterward.

There in lies the difference between the left coast and Texas. Dogs in Texas can carry guns and teeth.

That's where if would have been better off to finish off what the dog started.

My Rotti / Husky cross lets the mailman come into the yard to pat her during the day... some watchdog.

I don't think that sort of thing would be a problem here in NH unless the ground was too frozen for digging a big hole...

Unless the laws have changed recently, Texas is one of the few states where you can shoot an intruder in some circumstances like trespassing or while being burglarized.

That SUCKS. What ever happened to the days when you could shoot someone just for trespassing on your property? No confusion when there's only one side of the story to hear!

That's commonly known as the "make my day" law. We have it in Colorado too. If anyone steps on to your property and threatens you with bodily harm, you can blow their brains out.

I have the same set-up at my place. "Charlie" weighs in at 117 pounds. What she starts the shotgun will finish. Here in Alabama you shoot first and ask questions later. It's surprizing what that attituted does for the crime rate.

Reminds me of a farmer over here who famously caught someone syphoning gas out of his car in the middle of the night. Farmer Joe fired a warning shot into the perps car not knowing a young girl was in the back seat.

She's dead.

Farmer Joe is eating porrige 3 times a day in a small room next to a fat man named Bubba.

Yea but did he enter his building to steal the gass - If someone was stealing my gas I would just hold them at gun point and call the cops. If you own a gun you should know warning shots are fired into soft dirt and nowhere else..

Great story (and bad one on the lawsuit).

Here in FL you can only use your firearm to protect life not assets. That said, if someone enters your house you fear for your life so (in my
book) its OK to shoot the b_stard.
