One rule I have in my life. NEVER a minivan.
The A-6 serves us well for road trips etc.. I am not a fan of SUV's either and will not own one either.

I've ALWAYS loved minivans. When I was single and living in a condo in downtown Chicago I had three vehicles in underground parking; BMW 633 Csi for nice occasions, Jetta Gli for everyday city commute, and a Dodge caravan for sports activities like skiing, sailing, whatever. Not to mention, minivans have carried me through some of the most foul weather imaginable. If I know it's going to be *****y out-I take the minivan.
I've been called a lot of not so nice things in my life to be sure. Geek wasn't one of them. I'm 6'5"/200 lbs, athletic, and never wore glasses ![]() I guess always having a "cool" car like the 911 in the garage helped. |

Driving a minivan makes a guy look sexy, sensitive cool, in touch with his kids and overall more desireable.
Yeah right.......... "'Steve and his 2K Chevy Van" My other car is a real car...........

I'd buy a minivan before I bought an SUV.
It's a better tool for the job that 95% of people use SUVs for (on the road commuter transportation and occasional carrying of household stuff and more than 4 people). Better handling, better mileage, more interior room, usually better quality (Odyssey and Sienna), better features, better ride, better resale value, and faster, too. SUV or minivan, it's just gonna be a transportation appliance anyways, so might as well get the one that is best suited for the job. But I don't really watch ads, don't care how "rugged" or "adventurous" the neighbors think I am. |

Mini-van are only what they've been labelled as; soccer-mom-mobile, baby hauler, etc. The reality is that they are one of the most versatile automotive configuation much like the station wagon that they replaced. And for you guys/gals with your new crossover vehicle -guess what- it's a station wagon.
I think the very nature of the typical Porsche owner makes us shy away from any vehicle that is popular to the point of being extremely common. A couple years back I had bought used a mini-van to use for utility/parts chaser; took out all but the front seats and the thing was great, cheap and reliable. I'm not anything close to nerdy, dorky or geeky and had no problem zipping about town in my mini-van. (It's gone now but there are many times I still had it.) |

If you are insecure and image conscious, stay away from a mini van. If you need an incredibly versatile vehicle that can haul kids, tools, sheetrock and lumber, a mini van might fit the bill.
There are damn few vehicles I'd be embarassed to be seen in. A mini van ain't one of them.

An SUV is a Mini Van marketed as sports purpose.
A mini Van with a couple of baby seats = owned. |

Try carrying lumber in a 911....
Mini vans rock for a lot of property owner purposes requiring hauling of "stuff". Don't own one, but my daughter and son-in-law do and have saved my bacon at Home Depot more than once!!

I own a minivan. I'd be embarrassed to drive an SUV unless I used it offroad.

Expedition is my wife's daily driver. She insisted on another SUV to replace our Discovery. No way would she even consider looking at a mini van. In her words they look "lame". It's true the SUV and Mini van answer the same question - to us the SUV has a more sporting/purposeful look and for that 5% of the time we're off in 4x mode it really shines.
Frankly I don't undertand folks here even questioning this. You all made a similar decision in getting a Porsche vs. some other car. Sure some of you race or rally your cars, but how many really push the performance envelope to justify having one? Probably as much, or less than, we do the 4x aspect of our Expedition. A Dodge Grand Caravan is my daily driver. I also own an SUV. I don't care if the van makes me look geeky and the SUV makes me look...whatever it makes me look like. If you let your car define who you are, you've got issues.
