I watched the F-1 qualifications yesterday, now this is a real sport. They dont stop the race every time somebody have a flat tire and they dont pack their stuff if it start raining.

Direct TV (pwd72)
Paul, you'll get a better consistent signal and not all of it is crap. Just more access to different stuff. Speedchannel isn't all NASCAR despite our complaints - it just seems that way for a few days after a race. OTOH, Friday night gave us 3 hours of F1 including a one hour commentary history of the 95 Brazilian GP with one of Schumacher's Benetton engineers/mechanics. Pretty cool. I imagine NASCAR fans were bored "there's no passing!!".... With Direct TV you also get Outdoor Channel (Dakar Race, skiing, etc) a couple of movie, history, DIY channels, news, and more. You can create your own line up of channels by programming the remote to eliminate the 15 infomercial channels and other junk. I wasn't so sure about it when I got it (for F1 and NHL) now I enjoy it. Just a different perspective ---

Speed channel really has and still is caught sleeping at the wheel. Here you have one channel that is supposed to be dedicated to everything 'speed related motorsports'. I never really was taken with their 'unique' programming. Basically a handfull of shows on a constant loop.
Occasionally you would see interesting stuff like lawn-mower racing in Iowa or motorcycle rodeo's out west. The last year or so the programming is so lame I just skip it all together. When Discovery channel decided to look at their demo's, they decided to aim it squarely at the male core audience something it would seem that all other networks were missing. it started with shark week and then a few motorcycle (different) events. Then came Jesse James. History tells the rest. I now go to the disco channel first to see what good motorsports are on. For me; speed channel never really lived up to what it promised and now it should be re-named Nascar channel.
