BMW forums and punks

Since I got the 318i I have been looking for a BMW forum compairable to this one. Fat chance. These little bastards fight like there is no tomorrow. If you ask about roll bars soemone calls you gay for putting a bar in your car. Breaks, "what do you need good brakes in a 318i for?". "I have the stock brakes in my M3 and it will smoke your car."

I realize that I am dealing with a different demographic now, but jesus. Of you want a good laugh check out the e30 section on roadfly.org.

try www.bimmerfest.com

www.bmwboard.com

I have found some helpful stuff on those sites, including a lot of DIY stuff.

Have fun,

Don't bother looking for good info on bimmerforums.com

Over there it's basically a bunch of rich immature kids with no sense of DIY

Roadfly is your best bet...

I disagree with Jared - the e30 forum on bimmerforums does have its share of kiddies, but there are a few very knowledgeable people there too. e30tech.com and r3vlimited.com also have some smart people. But you do have to deal with the jokers in all of them.

This site has a pretty good bimmer section. From what I've heard, they also have one heckuva OT section

I found the same thing when I was looking for a good place to learn about my newly aquired Audi A4. All any of those kids care about is wheels and body kits. It's hard to find a board like Pelican for other cars.

I think that when your 19 and you own an '05 M3, you're bound to find a little immaturity sprinkled about.

I recently got forced out of one my favorite automotive sites, tamparacing.com, since the ricer retards and drama queens took it over (many of them don't even own a car).

That means more time for the PPBBS . . .

It's similar over at the Tiburon forum I used to frequent. I still head over there every once in a while. Some stuff is very useful, but at 28 years old, I'm one of the 'older' people on the forum. There is a lot of immaturity, as the Tiburon is popular amongst younger adults and kids.

I need to move up in the world... unfortunatly, I'm stuck with the Tib for a while... but it's a great car, so it's not such a bad situation!

The one thing I absolutely love about this forum is the maturity level and the generally cool nature of the members. Other than a few people who can't seem to figure out how to use the search function and some of the reposts, this place is the BEST.

I wish we could get more traffic on the Pelican BMW forums, but it seems like a lost cause. When I first bought my E30 five years ago, I used to frequent roadfly and bmwe30.net religiously, but it seems like over the years the cars have been bought by high school/college kids with nothing on their minds but body kits, 18in wheels, and "systems." Heck, I'm probably using the wrong terms here, since I'm old!

There are still a few good guys out there, with actual jobs, the ability to write in complete sentences, and the means and know-how to perform DIY projects on their BMW's.

r3vlimited.com has some decent info every once in a while, but you'll have to sort through some whining and bickering to find it. baye30.net is okay too, but doesn't get much traffic.

We are truly lucky to have a forum like Pelican for our P-cars, that's for sure.

Jim

What finally got me kicked out was making posts about the housing bubble getting ready to pop. One of the top admins on that board is a real estate agent and he doesn't like people contesting his view that there is no bubble and housing prices in florida will never go down.

Between that and making fun of some kids who wanted to put lambo style door hinges on their honda I got the boot for being 'overly critical'. I guess it didn't help that one of the board's advertisers is a company that makes lambo style door hinges.

I hired the owner of a RX-7 board called no pistons after developing an online friendship with him he seemd to be a stand up guy. He turned out to be a total looser who wanted to sit at work for 8 hours a day and work 2 while he IM'd his friends, whored up his forum, checked his stocks, and processed orders from his online parts store. I started to ride him a bit to make him get down to business and work, he retaliated by deleting me as a mod from "his" website. I ended up firing him and he basically deleted me from "his" website forum.

RX7 sites tend to be riddled with lots of posers who are more concerned with looks and straight line racing rather than actually using the cars as they were intended.

RX7club has a race car section with about 12-18 members who actually road race and Autocross their RX-7's its pretty informative. It too has its share of 15 y/o punks who want to e-fight with everyone.

Almost every online forum has kids crapping up the place.
