You know damn well we care, but your bringing it up envokes emotion (your goal). Also, I've never heard anyone accuse the Right as the party of emotion, but run with it if you like.

i have got to tip my cap to lenn, i guess. he's on deck of a sinking ship screaming " i am the king of the world!". that kind of blind loyality is generally reserved for sports teams in the US. notice i said BLIND?
i wonder if he'd poopoo the lost lives if it was one of his sons, brother, nephews, or other friend that was running up the death toll? not that i have lost anyone in this ordeal that i can relate too, not even the 6 degree of kevin bacon sort of way.

It's a lame-o debating tactic.
Not too different from Mule's predictable "step away from the crack pipe." It absolves the user from engaging in rational discussion because the other side is "all emotional." I had a client try that on me years ago when I asked for payment on overdue bills. It's just deflection and a sign the other side is out of ammo.

What really ticks me off about this is that the guy who started it, the guy who's the big cheerleader behind it, was too damn cowardly to fight in his war and used daddy and grand-daddy's influence to hide from it.......... but that's probably off-topic. My apologies

Len, you're spot on with the evoking emotion bit!
Another funny point: Left claims W just keeps spewing same old lines. Then when right attempts to respond, left spews same old lines (Bush lied, soldiers are being slaughtered, Bush clings to Sept 11 Blah, Blah, Blah). After the crap spewing, left claims right is out of ammo. I sometimes wonder why I occasionally participate. I guess when my BS tolerance meter gets high enough, I can't help myself.

Do the math. Fortitude is good if your plan is working, or heck, it you have a plan. Bush's plan isn't working.

Denis I know the left will jump all over me for this, but here is my opinion on 9/11 and Iraq: I was extremely pissed off when 9/11 happened, I even went so far as to try to get back into the reserves.
I do not think SH had any thing to do with 9/11, but before 9/11 after continuously hearing how that b@stard SH was taking shots at our aircraft and snubbing his nose at inspectors and the UN, I thought we had reason to take him out even back then and to hell w/ what France thought. I think that the bad guys are flooding into Iraq which allows us a better opportunity to KILL them. I think AFTER 9/11 that any killing of Muslim extremists (AKA terrorists, insurgents) is a positive step towards making the world a better place. Fox news did not tell me to think this way, W did not tell me to think this way, bible pounders did not tell me to think this way, NPR news (which I actually listen to) sure as hell did not tell me to think this way. I used MY COMMON SENSE to formulate my opinions (as did over 50% of the country when they voted W in twice). This is truly how I feel, not that I expect anyone to care. Flame away (disclaimer: I do not watch Nascar, Fox National news or TV bible pounders and I did graduate from college).

I was flipping in between Fox, CNN and MSNBC the other night after bush's speech. Wanted to catch as much McCain as I could. Man I love that guy.
Anyway, Hardball had a townhall meeting in a church in TN I think. Matthews asked the pastor of the church a question about the President bringing up 9/11 in the speech so much. the Pastor's response: "we support the war as a response to 9/11." Everyone clapped. I threw a chicken thigh (orange-hoisin BBQ glaze, own recipe) at the TV.

I'm not calling you a liar, it's just that we've had these "I saw on Fox News" arguments before and I think you hear what you want to hear as opposed to what is actually said. Seriously, I can post the whole show for you.

Len, definitely post it or send it to me or send a link. It was toward the end. McCain was just on, he had gone, there was some liberal fellow there. I actually typed in his response. I was having fun iwth words that night, typing in the various catch phrases used by the 3 cables and their guests.
Credibility gap was being thrown around a lot. Seems I may have one myself!!!!

Found it, here is the exchange. He does mention 9/11, but not all to say they feel the war in Iraq is a response to it.
MATTHEWS: Tough question. That said—and I believe you‘re right—just watching it from back east. If this same war were being fought by Madeleine Albright and Bill Clinton, this complicated Shia, Kurds, Sunnis, Mullahs, all this stuff going on we don‘t really know about that seems it‘s going to get more and more complicated, would your congregation support the war with the same heart? SUTTON: If we went to war for the right reasons. MATTHEWS: No, you‘re giving me a caveat there. SUTTON: Would we support the same war? MATTHEWS: If all you knew—if the only difference was the leadership, if it wasn‘t the president‘s, as you see, moral leadership, and it was a more secular (INAUDIBLE) for the war from back east, from a guy like Clinton and Madeleine Albright from back east, that kind of—would your people be as supportive? SUTTON: Our people are also patriotic. And the answer is yes, we would be supportive. If the war as a response to 9/11, and the implications of the Taliban, and all of the—what I‘d call just the bleed over from the whole militant Islamic movement, if Saddam Hussein is the guy that could be a lynchpin, that could bring democracy, we‘d say, “Sure, we‘ll support that.” One observation. It seems like there‘s a great irony here. If the insurgents would ever quit fighting, America would go home. And the very thing they‘re trying to do, resist the American Armed Forces. If they would stop that, then we‘d be out of there. It‘s an irony.

Len, that's it, thanks!
the implication is pretty clear. "If the war as a response to 9/11 blah blah blad we‘d say, “Sure, we‘ll support that.”'

Len, you are missing the point. He thinks 9/11 and Iraq are connected and so did everyone in that church.
You don't start off with "If the war as a response to 9/11" unless you believe they are connected.
