So weenie, you are agreeing with me that the President never said "Mission accomplished" in that speech. Good research! Thanks for the help!

fint, he never said those words. That's why I posted the text.

You know what they say: "even a broken clock is right twice a day."

As I said before, I've not been able to uncover a single death resulting from our fighting in Kosovo, and your contention appeared to be that there was some basis for comparing the management of Iraq during war and occupation with Kosovo.

What is your basis for comparison? Iraq is a disaster on the basis of both dollar and human cost, and on our relations with the rest of the world. So where's the pony?

Len..in any occupation, there will be deaths and not all will be from enemy action. Vehicle accidents, health problems, etc. If the point is deaths directly attributed to enemy action, that is one thing. If ALL deaths are included, it is quite another. Iraq deaths of allied troops have some drownings, even two killed by a fellow soldier. I think we can all agree that these deaths in that specific theatre would not have happened, or would have happened "over here" rather than "over there". Sayng "no deaths" and "no combat deaths" is splitting hairs.

fint..Although the president did not speak the actual words, standing there in front of the sign implies agreement with it. Perhaps he should have ordered the sign removed before the cameras rolled. Again, splitting hairs.

The point is that words and actions are always there to haunt us.

How about helicopter crashes during missions or being blown up in minefields? Does that "just happen" here OR there?

Now that being said I am only using his own tactics against him.

Oh and tech, here ya go good buddy, your Google is weak

VOA, June 09, 2003
Helicopter Crash Kills 2 US Soldiers in Kosovo

"VOA News A helicopter crash has killed two U.S. peacekeeping soliders in Kosovo.

American military officials in the U.N.-administered Serbian province said the soliders died Sunday when their AH-64 Apache helicopter went down for reasons that are not known. They said the cause of the crash is being investigated and that foul play is not suspected.

The soldiers were based at the largest U.S. military installation in the region, Camp Bondsteel, about 40 kilometers east of the provincial capital, Pristina.

Albanian-dominated Kosovo has been controlled by United Nations peacekeepers since 1999. "

Don't worry Money, you are not the first to say the President said that ...when he clearly didn't. I am sure you did not intend to mislead. You just need to quit using those liberal websites for sources...very little truth there.

I have never heard that standing in front of a sign means you agree with it...or that people all over the world that never met you would swear that you actually said the words on the sign. Darn, these modern rules of quoting someone based on where he stands are confusing.

So is that somehow a backhanded apology to the President for misquoting him?...Is that what you mean about one's words haunting them? Good for you!

So what about Americans killed as part of the UN peacekeeping force? Do they count? Or is the one who shot them not and enemy....but a friend? I would personally consider most anyone who shot me an enemy, wouldn't you? Or is that what you mean by "splitting hairs?"
