Dustin, you should lighten up. My take on these posts is that they are written tongue in cheek and are basically from a bunch of guys just joking around. The reason I say this is because I have met many, many Porsche enthusiasts of all models and and have noticed that every last one of them is friendly and loves to talk about Porsches in general and their own car in particular. I have never met an enthusiast of Porsches who I would call a jerk. Never.
The fact that every last one of us who posts on this and other Porsche forums has taken the time to find the website, sign up, and post tells me that we are all enthusiasts, not mere posers looking for status. Those types don't even know or care about this forum. Some people on this board have made some pretty harsh comments but I believe that if you were to ask these same people if they REALLY believed what they had written then I firmly believe that each and every one of them would tell you no, that the comments were simply written in jest. The Porsche people I have met during my life, and there have been many, have all been genuinely nice, interesting, and fun to be around. I would not call any of them jerks. If the general public thinks we're jerks, they just don't really know us. |

Except Cayennes - I genuinely don't like Cayennes. Not too many Cayenne owners seem to get my car either. The rest I like.

Status owners no nothing of the passion we Porsche lovers share for our rides. So don't be dissapointed if your wave is not returned by them. You are in the club, they are not.
All of us Pelicans share a common memory. When we were young, we saw our first Porsche, and a life-long love affair was born. We all held our breath and dreamed of the day when we would take the driver's seat in our first, very own Porsche. Some of us struck it rich and bought GTs. Some of us had to save up every penny to buy a 924 or 914, or like myself a 1968 911L beater. The thing that seperates us wavers from the non-wavers is that we have a passion for our cars and want to keep them on the road. The wave is an acknowledgement that we both had that same breathless moment as children, when we saw our very first Porsche. SvK

Last I checked, "Bite Me" isn't a terribly venomous retort... my point was that if this attitude (from the "top 10") could easily (simply look at this thread) be understood as derisive in nature. I was just "jabbing" back. I know that this wasn't meant to be any sort of "official policy" or 99 Theses or anything profound like that. For people who seem to have such sharp wit and sense of sarcasm, we're awfully touchy... Beers to all - no harm no foul - how's that then? Now back to your regularly scheduled programming... 1) I hear you can reduce engine temps with the "Cool Collar" any advice on this product? 2) What are the best tires for my 911? 3) I want to buy a cheap 911 - what's the BEST model year?

Geeezzz, Rarly as one who HAS tossed $$$ at a Porsche you should realize that the joint ventured 914 was handicapped at the start by the factory.
There were many FACTORY upgrades that were available to bring the 914 back up to it's original potential.....the M471 kit included the flares, body stiffeners, bigger brakes, etc....the Lemans winning 914/6 were far from stock. The short lived 916 had MANY 911 parts.... Too many people buy into the NARP (not a real porsche) syndrome....

That's is so amazingly true:
When I was riding around in my 911, everyone looked and admired. Since I truned that into a track car, and bought a 944 as a DD, I get no lookers and dare I say, I'm almost embarrased to drive. My 2c: the 914s get a nod because they can potencially be a monster track car. 911s before 76 get sympathy wave (rust) 928, 944s get eye contact(some buy them just so they can say they have a Porsche) and sympathy wave (for all the work and money they end up putting into them). 968 get an energetic wave for being Porsche's most underestimated car.
