Another guess the guitar thread
Heres another great guitar that happens to be an accurate knockoff of an unobtainable Gibson. To my knowledge, the company that made a special run of 72 of these in 1997 was never sued by Gibson. Two piece Korina (Black Limba , African equivalent of mahogany) body, setup is supposed to be exactly like the 91 Flying V's that Gibson made between '58 and '59.
I think these guitars were shipped with '59 Duncan pickups in them but I cant say for sure since Ive never pulled mine. Whatever they are they wail and they are staying in the guitar. This is one of the better sounding and feeling guitars that Ive ever played. The weight is nice and it rings like a bell. These guitars were marketed as reissues and used almost exclusively by a guitarist that was in a really popular band in that year. I wasn't a fan of the band but I bought one of these because real '58 Gibson Flying Vs were being sold for $100k at the time and the Gibson custom shop pieces were going for $10k when they could be found. You guys will nail this one. Headstock shot when you guess it. ![]() Last edited by Shuie; 09-02-2005 at 05:29 PM.. |

I don't know much about guitars, but this one might be fun. Anyone know which model it is?

oh yeah.....
well here are my strats Warmoth Korina body. Duncan Antiquity pickups. These are way too dark for this guitar. Im swapping my Lindy Fraylins from my project strat into it soon. The guts are all from a Fender donor. Neck is fully scalloped from a Malmsteen signature model with the CBS headstock. ![]() This more of a project than anything else. I want to resurrect this one some day. Originally it was a Bonnie Rait signature model so it has a nice Alder body. Some schmuck decided to relic it ![]() ![]() |

Dean ????
I once had a Kramer V guitar that one side of the V was longer than the other ( like 12" longer). That thing played nice as silk, and the long V balanced it out nicely instead of a neck heavy V. Well, I ended up lending it to a friend who IMMEDIATELY pawned it for coke money ![]() ![]() So months later after hastling him to get it back, I never hear from him again, and find out from a mutual friend what he had done... F'ed up part was I would have given him the money.. Don BTW, I like these guitar guess threads ![]() keep em coming ....

I've got Fralins in my warmouth strat. They sounded better in my Custom Shop Relic, but I think it was because that one had an open grain alder body and rosewood fretboard, whereas my Warmouth is ash body, quilted maple top and maple fretboard. The Fralins seem to like a bit warmer wood.
Still sounds OK though, and I'm only using it for accent on recording stuff... |

The Fraylins are very warm. Im a big big fan of them. That beat to hell reversed strat sounded friggin awesome with them. I cant wait to try them in the Korina strat. Hopefully they will brighten it up.

nope and nope. But it does rhyme with one of those
![]() Ibanez did have a Flying V that Gibson sued them for. It was called the Rocket Roll and was made in '75 and '76 as a '58-'59 Gibson copy. Those are neat guitars. Not quite a dead knockoff, but still cool. The bodies were Ash, the hardware is kinda off, and the outut jack is in the wrong spot. I sold the one I had but Im looking for another one. Here's a '75: ![]() ![]() Last edited by Shuie; 09-17-2005 at 07:17 PM.. |

WINNER!
Yep. It's a Hamer Vector. #27 of 72 that were made in 1997. Its currently not in production, but Hamer has released them in Korina at least once as a regular catalog item since then so they are not all that rare.
