Don Adams of 'Get Smart' Dies at 82
Sad news as another comedic icon from the 60's passes on. Of course we can't forget his Sunbeam Tiger, the dome of silence, chaos or agent 99. "LOS ANGELES - Don Adams, the wry-voiced comedian who starred as the fumbling secret agent Maxwell Smart in the 1960s television spoof of James Bond movies, "Get Smart," has died. He was 82. Adams died of a lung infection late Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, his friend and former agent Bruce Tufeld said Monday, adding the actor broke his hip a year ago and had been in ill health since." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050926/ap_en_tv/obit_adams

In 1941, he dropped out of school to join the Marines. In Guadalcanal he survived the deadly blackwater fever and was returned to the States to become a drill instructor, acquiring the clipped delivery that served him well as a comedian.
A Marine DI, who would have ever believed that about him! RIP...

What Gilligan and now Agent Smart....this must be a Bush conpiracy to get rid of our beloved TV characters....there must be an investigation...lets call our man Derek Flint....what he's dead to....then it must be Napoleon Solo or John Drake who we must call...and Emma Peel and John Steed to take care of the British investigation

My favorite of Smart's villians was "The Craw"
The Craw holds up his claw hand and asks Smart, "What do you think they call me, Mr. Smart?" And Smart replies "Um, Lefty?" |
