I saw the first page last night before bed and couldn't sleep very well at all. This thread should have been titled with an animal creulty warning. I really hope that this isn't real, its not the killing of the animal that bothers me as much as the suffering and torchering of it.

cant possibly be real. IF i were to troll with a dog, i would attach the dog via a harness, then dangle some big ass hooks near the pups body. i am a outdoorsman wannabe, in otherwords i would starve if left to collect my own food. but i KNOW to fish, you need to imitate something your target would eat. DOGS are not sharkfood. sharks eat fish, oh, and seals (dont go there). you use dead fish to catch sharks. a dog dragging behind a boat would get a shark curious, but no effen way. I DONT BELIEVE IT!! hell, i bet a dog just paddling around would be more attactive. i call bullschit. even a surfer being hit by a shark is rare, and considered a case of mis information on the shark's part.

#1 - Lube if you had a chance at eating some black tip shark, grilled with just a little italian dressing poured on while grilling you'd change your mind about eating shark
#2 - I am a dog owner and shark fisherman - usually in the summer months I catch a eating sized shark every couple of weeks. #3 - I belive the story - isolated dumba$$ fisherman that hopefully gets skewered buy a blue marlin one day. #4 - I don't believe the picture. To catch a big shark you need a big round hook to get past the rows of teeth. a long shank hook, even with twin hooks if it's not wide enough will not be effective #5 Sure sharks are trash eaters and opportunists - but to catch the big ones - you need to mirror the bait supply that's on hand. So, if you are in the ocean - than a big snapper/grouper/amberjack = a dog - or cat or whatever would be pretty ineffective.

Uhhh-anyone here ever see a dog with gills?
![]() If you dragged a dog behind a boat hooked like that I guess he'd last about....oh... 30 seconds. Plus the muzzle area is far too clean for the kind of trauma inflicted. No swelling, blood, hair loss, tears. This is bull*****. Besides, if you read the snopes article, they said that anything that hit the water was dead already. Apparently sharks like blood, so tossing a butchered carcas in the water probably works pretty well. If they kill a dog (ahead of time) to do this, I think that's not very nice, but many cultures consider dogs simply a food source. My dog is a family member and protector, but that's me. |
