another (new) toy
just got this today. it was given to me by my uncle who had it given to him by my father 35+ yrs ago. it was bought new in 1947. made by Craftsman and sold by Sears I guess. Not sure what I'll do with it, not knowing anything about lathes, but might be fun to play around with for a while. it still works fine and I have the manuals, parts lists and a box of extra gears and tools. anyone know anything about it?

Damn if that aint a Double A / Craftsman Model (80) 109-2063 from 1948. Some info: http://www.lathes.co.uk/craftsman/page4.html
Looks like you'll be able to do some basic turning with your new lathe. The beautiful thing about these tools is that they haven't changed much in 100+ years. Best place for parts are the Yahoo groups or Ebay. If it were a later Craftsman/Atlas/Clausing you'd have more options.
