another (new) toy
just got this today. it was given to me by my uncle who had it given to him by my father 35+ yrs ago. it was bought new in 1947. made by Craftsman and sold by Sears I guess. Not sure what I'll do with it, not knowing anything about lathes, but might be fun to play around with for a while. it still works fine and I have the manuals, parts lists and a box of extra gears and tools. anyone know anything about it?

Looks like you'll be able to do some basic turning with your new lathe. The beautiful thing about these tools is that they haven't changed much in 100+ years. Best place for parts are the Yahoo groups or Ebay. If it were a later Craftsman/Atlas/Clausing you'd have more options. ![]()
