Not a Rover, BRM or a turbine.

Better than almost...

Its an English built Ginetta G16. They ran in the world championship in Group 6 in '68 and '69. They were powered by a variety of 2.0 liter engines (Coventry Climax, Cosworth, BMW).

Not especially successful, as Ginetta was chronically underfunded and relied on privateers to develop the car.

Yep... first google hit (with the right keywords)

The entire description of the 72 - 75 Mohs SafariKar lets you know it was doomed.

A car covered externally in naugahyde???
WTF??

**DING DING DING***

We have a winner.

Mohs Safarikar

"The Safarikar had a folding metal roof, a bizarre sliding door arrangement, room for eight on board, and a set of rear jump seats, suitable, according to the original brochure, for temporary use in parades. Its interior could be reconfigured into a sleeping compartment. The bodywork, meanwhile, was a curious melange of aluminium, polyurethane and Naugahyde, giving the Safarikar a uniquely leathery look. Merely wet, wipe and dry for cleaning. No waxing. No wiping, the brochure said. No kidding.
It's the stuff of nightmares, this car: designed by the deluded, perfect for the despotic"

next?

There used to be a car that somebody covered in dichondra that cruised the So Cal freeways. I think it was in the mid-70s. It was a promotional vehicle for a company that sold dichondra.

I'm already passing 12 hours at work today, and have a meeting first thing in the morning... so I'm going to make this easy. The large vent on the side should give it away. If not, I'll drop a hint after the meeting tomorrow.

I looked at several oddities in my collection, but settled on this. The company was in production for several years and had a well known firm do the design.
