				New Art

We just had this installed, I really like it. It's funky and cool, nice contrast with our old house. Of course, I had to get a car tile, in the lower left corner. No p cars, but three VWs and a 60's Mustang. Unfortunately the lighting sucked for the pic. | ||

Looks nice and interesting thing is that it looks like you can make it almost any size you want. Might I ask a ballpark price? Expensive? JoeA

Those tiles are 18" square, and the piece is 6x4.5 feet. She also does 12" and 24" tiles. The artist is local, and starting to become really well known. Her work is kind of interesting because she occupies some space between fine art and design, and her stuff has been installed in a lot of clubs, restaurants and public spaces to generally great reviews. Here's her web site: http://www.coralbourgeois.com/coralflash/coralflash.html Expensive? Not for a guy like you Seriously, I don't think it is, but pm me. I'll tell you the price and even broker a deal for you if you want

I saw some local tile art last weekend that was interesting. From medium distance, the tiles are flowers, fractals, swilrls, but when you get close, you realize all the picture elements are nudes. Very 60s Playboy Pad style... Like the piece, Rodeo.

Now this is the stuff that sets the Peasants from the people with Wealth and Taste apart. Lets try $18,300.00 with the 22.5% Buyers Premium... I always did want my own set of Sterling Flatware....I would see the Wallace Grand Baroque and go hmmm...but could never part with the panango.....then one day a GF brought out her Porter Blanchard sterling....and I said, "Now this is UNIQUE stuff, Handhammered by a CA Silversmith, this I gotta have." So I started looking for a set of Allan Adler or Porter Blanchard Sterling....and Luckily in one month I found a Po rter Blanchard Sterling Tea Service set and 2 weeks latera set of Allan Adler flatware....both from the same source in Brentwood..www.allanadler.com

Art in the home is always personal. It should please the eye or move your soul. Sometimes certain pieces just make you feel good and you don't know why. Nothing I have is expensive at all. My favorite is an old framed print of "The Lady of Shalot" by Waterhouse. Don't know why I love it, but I do. I've also got a wall of identically framed artwork done by my kids when they were in gradeschool, all colorful and happy. The tile art looks great on that wall. Nice colors, texture and great images. Never worry about mixing the old with the new. I like it a lot.

Nice house, I like the ceiling. The art is nice too. Your eye is kept moving without the piece being too busy. Good call.

Thanks for the link, will take a look at it. Considering that I just bought a Tag Monaco and am heading towards the middle east and will look at carpets there, may have to wait a month or so until the coffers fill up a bit. Thx, JoeA

They are on some sort of composite board. Maybe 3/8". She covers the images with epoxy as the last step. They kind of look ceramic (most of her 12" tiles are ceramic) but they are pretty light. It’s a completely cold process. Thanks for the nice words. We’ve had some mixed reactions, which I actually don’t mind a bit. Not just with that piece, but I like art to be somewhat challenging, controversial. I don’t think my mother likes a single thing we have in the house. She’s my contrary indicator . Anyone have anything interesting, post a pic! It would be fun to argue about something besides politics

I like you wife's work gassy. Primitive and abstract at the same time, like a modern telling of an old story. And it looks like its has interesting texture.

There is something about his wife's work that grabs you in a basic way. I forgot to say I like it, the texture is nice - would want to see it in real life. Let me know if she does the Ann Arbor Art Fair...........it's one of the best in the country. There are three seperate organizations running it together - shoot for the high end one. I forget it's name. Make that four organizations. http://www.annarbor.org/artfair2005/
