Oh yeah, the "slippery slope" non-argument.

The sky is falling the sky is falling.

LOL

Comparing what Hitler did to people booing a speaker is a pathetic attempt to emotionalize a subject...and a sick thing at that.....

You think "liberals" are going to start killing off all the righties now because of these incidents with Coulter AND MOORE?

LMFAOROTF

Get a grip.

People today think Hitler seized power illegally...He didn't he was duly elected...his party in a fractious multi party Germany received apx 33% of the vote...which was the largest percentage of any party...and as such the Cabinet thought Hitler was a good choich for Chancellor to the aging Presidnet Hindenburg. The Cabinet and powers that be thought they could control Hitler. Soon after Hindenburg died Hitler started to collasse power unto himself. To get the Army to pledge allegience to him, he murdered his long time associate Ernest Roehme head of the SA..or Brown Shirts.. Roehme wanted to take over the roll of the Army and merge it with the Brown Shirts...

And what does this have to do with the topic of this thread?

You're trying to draw an analogy where an analogy is inaccurate Tabs.

And when in the hell are you going to pick a damn hotel?

tabs 12-10-2005 01:32 PM

I also draw a paralell of America and the Roman Empire.

Now you really got me COLD....I have no excuses for being a slacker.....

When something looks like Fascism, smells like Fascism and sounds like Fascism...you bet I draw the paralell.

Except it's the opposite of Fascism. In a fascist country, that would've never happened.

:)

Ok, give me a list of hotels via PM and I'll look into it, or give me an area to look via PM and I'll find hotels...

I can do it, I just never been to Vegas (can you believe it?) and don't know where to start.....

tabs 12-10-2005 01:45 PM

BTW....Thats what Ronnie the Popular used to call Nancy...."Mommy".....

Germany before Hitler took power was a Democracy...and I'm drawing the paralell thats how a country heads down the road to Fascism....it starts by shouting down the oposition...

and thats very kind of you.

Then you agree Moore shouldn't be shouted down (as evidenced in the link I provided) lest the republicans are becoming fascists? I didn't think so.

I still can't believe you're comparing booing of a controversal speaker to "fascism." OMG that's really funny!

I think the danger of the slippery slope is there, people should be aware of it. But it doesn't mean the worst is going to happen.

Oh give me a break! In response to that AGAIN....

Actually, it's been like that for the history of the country.....

You should take a look at past eras...people even protested WWI....

Christmas was banned for 22 years in the 1800s.

Nothing's changed....except the TV throws it in your face now...makes you think the world is ending, puts fear of the "boogie man" into Americans.....

tabs 12-10-2005 02:07 PM

My thoughts about Rome tend towards the use of power and wealth..and evenual misuse.

tabs 12-10-2005 02:14 PM

Actually WW1 unified the country the rift being the differences between the North and Souths feelings about the CW. It gave the USA a feeling that we were all Americans facing a common enemy the Huns....Germany...

I am aware of American and world History Liebschen...Thats what I am....a Historian...and thats why I like to collect things...

Then you should know full well the sky isn't falling. People's idealogies have been like this throughout American history. The "liberals" aren't going to fade away, nor will the "conservatives"...never had, never will.

The only bad thing about these times is that we bicker so much about it and the politicians, rep and dem, continue to rape us. What they say and what they actually do are two different things....

Didn't I just say that the sky isn't falling...

tabs 12-10-2005 02:39 PM

But BEWARE when you start shouting down the oposition instead of listening, sooner or later one side is going to stop talking and start demonizing the oposition...and if that conttinues sooner or later one side will resort to armed resistenece. Because dialog is no longer possible to solve their differences and those problems have to be solved one way or another.

Now in the USA I think the people have been lulled into somblence, and the power now resides with corporations and the Amercian govt Burecracy. If things get too out of control, those powers will establish a Dictatorship...if you look at Rome the Repblic just didn't die overnight it took 100 years for it to be finished...for the Ghost of the Repblic to be put to rest..their was alot of sentiment for Democracy... and it took alot of PR that in the interest of Rome etc we need to do this...and a lot of Democracycrats went missing...
