How much time have you spent in the military? Someone who "re-up's" does not do it because they hate being there, they do it because they want to make it a career.

Like it or not, someone in the military follows orders, and his order was to go to Iraq. Am sad that he, and the others are not coming home as they left but thats life. Before someone harpoons me for that statement, people die in civilian life as well and had he been based in a non-combat post he might have died in a car accident.

CC, Fint is not wrong 95% of the time, the same as you are not right or wrong most of the time. You just do not agree with it but would love to put this theory to the test.

Doesn't someone need to be a liberal for this statement to be valid?

Well... you are not exactly conservative on some things either. Still want to try and prove it?

Actually I'm more conservative than you realize. And no, I don't care to engage in childish internet "bets." For one, this "bet" would require me to read Flintstone's posts again, not a way to start a day out right. I don't want to puke, I want to have a good day.

I've heard this kind of crap from others, and it just pisses me off. Just like a firefighter may have to run into a burning building, or a policeman man find themselves with a gun pointed at them, soldiers may have to go to war. Deal with it! Everybody that is in Iraq volunteered, regardless of what was going on in the world at the time. If they just wanted $40k for college and didn't want to risk fighting, they should have joined the Coast Guard. I hate the fact that our men and women are dying overseas, but they made the choice to risk their lives in the interest of our freedom. What the hell do you people think being a soldier entails, picking daisies? If there were a draft I would be sympathetic, because forcing someone to go fight is BS. Most of these soldiers, like Sheehan's son, are behind our efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq, and are proud of the progress they are making, and proud of their roles as soldiers.

Quit being so mellowdramatic.
There's two main problems here that you're missing:

1. It's not a mellodramatic response when someone were to look at me and say that they hope my 2 kids die. It's taken as an implied threat on my offspring at the hands of an individual with malicious intent.

What kind of response do you think I should have in that case? "Oh, did you really mean to say that? Perhaps you meant to say that I hope your kids live long, fruitful, successful lives then pass peacefully into the hereafter....?"

No, your going to get a response of "Excuse me? Did you say what I think you said......................."

As I'm reaching for my sidearm.

You DO NOT EVER threaten someone's children, implicitly or directly. Doesnt matter if their neo-con or tree hugging; Iraqi, American, French or Chinese.

Children are children - you do not f@ck with them.

2. Now, as to Fint's issue, I don't agree with him on much, however I see eye to eye with him on this point. The issue is NOT with Sheehans son who re-upped several times of his own volition, chose his OWN path's, not his mothers. No one is dancing around the maypole celebrating the fact that he or the other soldiers (in an all volunteer military mind you...) died in service to their country, however right or wrong the policy that sent off.

The issue is with her whacked out, cheese slipping of the cracker response to the whole situation. She lost her son and my heart goes out to her for that, I don't want to feel that pain ever. She will have to realize one day that her continued actions sully and tarnish the sacrafice her son made.

As long as she continues to disrespect her sons service, our leaders (right or wrong, we still put them there...), and the mission of our military, I will continue to make fun of her, call her irrelevant (she is...), and laugh when someone sez she has man hands.

I have a buddy in Frist's office who met Sheehan a few weeks ago when she was "barnstorming" some offices up there. He said she looks like 2 miles of bad road, far worse in person than on tv. Not sure I'd pay to get her in a mud wrestling ring in Vegas.

Yes I do hope yours and everyone’s kids here on Pelican live long, fruitful, successful lives.

As I'm reaching for my sidearm. Hey, I have a gun too

We will just continue to disagree on the other issue. IMO when you talk s@it about the kid’s mother you are in fact disrespecting the dead solder. You are disrespecting her entire family.

Look, I do not agree with everything she is doing either. But damn, just let it go. If protesting helps her deal with the loss of her son, who am I to tell her she can’t do it. Who am I to even question her reasons.
If I died, and you talked about my mother like that. I would come back from the beyond just to beat the crap out of you!

I apologize for saying what I said. I do not wish that on anyone’s children. If I could go back in time and erase it, I would.

no way to know what he would really do, but it is certain he would not agree with what she has done, unless being dead changes your opinions 180 degrees, which I suppose is altogether possible.

Ha, needed that laugh. Totally agree but only if the name of Fintstone is taken out and replaced with "slakjaw, rodeo or G9" but would rather go to the dentist before reading their drivel again...

Slak, you have your views on things and other have theirs. An awful lot of people here and around the world feel that Sheehan is the one who is causing disrespect to her son by acting the way she is. As well she is a pawn for the liberals and being used.

For all we know, her son is wanting to come back and beat the crap out of her for what she is doing. At least now most of us know why his Father divorced the dingbat. Self abuse would be better than waking up next to that witch every morning.

Thom, you left out the KY or ID Glyde! It could be a three round match with different flavours added during the break.

$100 on Coulter to kick her rear in the first 30 seconds... Then she takes on G9 and thats over in less than a minute. After that we can all enjoy a nice dinner...

What "laugh?"

The truth is, you are the one who is not conservative.......your party and your party's views are hardly "conservative." Conservatism means things like fiscal, individual/state rights, etc....sticking with that constitution.... True conservatives throughout our country's history are rolling in their grave with disgust at your party....
