			Lol!  I just sent the link to my brother.  He left the SF Bay Area to sell real estate in Bako!  I've visited him twice and discovered that there's never a good time to go to Bakersfield.  It's either very hot or cold but it always smells.

			Many years ago, when I lived in Fresno, we referred to Bakersfield as the armpit of the San Joaquin Valley.  Of course Fresno is hardly a step above.

			Pretty much the entire central valley is best traverssed as quickly as possible, windows rolled up and plenty of air fresheners on hand. Better still, it's traverssed by aircraft. Gets you away from it as quickly as possible, you're above the "smell layer" inversion and you don't need to worry about getting run off the road by some redneck drunkard or that pickup truck full-o-thirty illegals (with no insurance, of course).
