Just made my contribution to the Georgia Highway Patrol
I got popped doing 85 in a 70 on I-95 in Georgia. I had the volume turned down on my V-1 like an idiot otherwise I would have avoided this.
I was holding the middle lane and moved out to pass. I was being passed by a lot of faster moving cars. I looked ahead and saw a GHP officer on the side of the road aiming a Laser Gun at me. He pointed at me and I pulled over under the next bridge where the 16 patrol cars were parked. I stopped behind the trooper that was getting ready to pursue me. LOL!! I thought that would get me a break but no I got the ticket. I just called to find out the fine and its $140. No problem. I then asked about driving school for the points. Get this. The girl on the phone told me to just write "Speed Reduction" on the ticket and no points will be assessed. Seems to me the GHP was out to make some money over New Years weekend.

My 80 in a 70 in KS was almost that much, you got off pretty easy. I still can't believe I got ticketed for 80 in a 70.

A state with no exportable goods other than neocons, empty Skoal cans and Budweiser bottles has to find SOME way to keep an economy going ya' know!
Oh yea, and of course there's that one place that misrepresents Porsche parts and rips off people on Ebay all the time. I guess you can add that to the list. Some day, when this nation comes to its senses and decides to sever Florida from the mainland and send it floating away to be be part of Cuba or Venesuela or Brazil they make the cut along the Georgia/South Carolina border - send Georgia with it. I do like peaches though, but with proper genetic engineering techniques they'll be able to grow 'em in Idaho soon.

What a racket. All they want is your money, of course, but the circumstances surrounding their extortion have become less and less credible. Now we are expected to be relieved at the "no points" option because it saves us the real money - insurance premium increases.
Now the states, counties, and city jurisdictions play us against the insurance industry. The message is to pay without a fight, or we tell your insurance. Fight the state and lose, and they flag it to the insurance industry via the points system. Go along quietly, and it will be our little secret. Amazing it has come to this. What if every one of us fought every lousy ticket? I know that is impractical and inconvenient in many cases. It sure would jug up the courts though, now wouldn't it? Why is there absolutely NO burden of proof left for the officers to meet? It's just become too darn easy for them. This has to come to an end, but how?

They would discourage that by jacking up the court costs. That way if you lost, it would add several hundred more bucks to the cost of the ticket - almost as bad as if you'd gotten it stuck to you by the insurance companies.
Yes, I know sometimes I'm a cynic, but unfortunately it makes me right more often than not. . .
